Having thoroughly enjoyed reading Kathryn Stockett's brilliant book, I was keen to see how a film maker would convey this story of segregation in America during the 60s, and all in all, Tate Taylor has done a good job. I think the film lacks some of the impact and tension of the book; corners have had to be cut, but generally speaking the film remains faithful to the story line. Excellent performances from all the cast and visually it hits all the right notes. If you've read the book you may have some slight dissapointments, but this is still well worth seeing. If you haven't read the book, seeing the film first should in no way spoil your future enjoyment if you then go on to read the book as I would recommend. Nice to see the director explain his opinions and reasons for the two deleted scenes which are included on the disc. I think this film will be enjoyed by most people and hopefully provide some food for thought at the same time.
I went to see this film with no knowledge of the book or it's author, I was so impressed with the powerful performances and moving scenes. The emotions are raw and you feel bruised by the intensity,Your left with your heart wounded and you can't help being touched right to your core...You laugh and cry with the characters you become attached to in the story, and they stay with you like family and friends in your heart...The film deserved it Oscar nomination, you must see especially with all the women you know...it brings all us sisters together no matter who you are! (and even some of the brothers too!)

This is by far one of the best films I have seen. Its heart-warming and heart-breaking at the same time.
Its a story of struggle and triumph. The acting is breath taking. Its so inspiring and well written, the casting is flawless and it deserved all the awards it got.
Excellent movie, very true to the book, well worth buying
a film to make you think and challenge other peoples beliefs.It makes you feel how attitudes were so wrong and desperately neede to change,i loved watching it.
