This was much better than the 2010 Christmas special, a good hearted family Christmas tale with some elements of the lion the witch and the wardrobe thrown in, theres nothing major in the way of action and it lacked a good villain but I guess its for kids, it has nothing on the excellent sixth series, but overall it was funny and has the usual wit from Matt Smith to carry it along smoothly, its probably best to wait for the seventh series box set to get it though rather than pay extra for it. I think the highlight of the episode was seeing the lovely Karen Gillan at the end.
Another classic by Steven Moffatt, though not up their with his best work it's still a very entertaining episode.
It has the christmas theme throughout and thats what it's about christmas, family and tree aliens :D
special mention to Matt Smith who gives another exceptional perfomance... easily the greatest Doctor to date.
This has to be one of the worst episodes of who to date. The story appears contrived to try and introduce the possibility of a wardrobe that leads to another reality and then does nothing interesting with it. The second half of the story underwhelms and the whole thing has an increasingly sickly mawkish feel to it with the doctor mooning around outside Amy Ponds door. I couldnt really imagine a 900 year old alien fretting spending his time worrying about his emotional inadeqaucies like some adolescent stalker. One to avoid.
I think that Doctor Who continues to be brilliant, i think the 1 star reviews are harsh and unfair, not all Doctor Who stories should be full of action or villians, we must remember that Doctor Who is for our children really, a bonus to the writers for it also having a few adult fans, i think that this years christmas story was brilliant as are all the other stories, we all have our favourites and we all have episodes we would not really watch again that often but all in all Doctor Who continues to be brilliant for the age range it is aimed towards and i still love it. to all you 1 star critics, if you want more action, watch action programs. we all have a freedom of choice, and if you dont like Doctor Who anymore, there are other channels and other programs.
Arguably the worst episode of Dr Who since the series returned in 2005.
Nothing much happens. There is not much of a plot and what is there is heavily contrived. The music is non-stop and irritiating, trying to force the viewer to think the show is entertaining when it isn't. The ending was dull and predictable, with the Doctor reduced to a peripheral figure.
Matt Smith appears like a cartoon character, which is a shame as he could be a great Doctor if he was given the right material.
The wooden creations were good visually, but that's about the only plus point in a truly dire episode.
Seriously, the writers need to start producing some decent material for this show as it is becoming seriously boring, predictable and basically not very good. The last series was poor as well.
