2011's critical darling and Oscar winner is a wonderful reminder that such believed outdated techniques such as Black and White and silence can still create entertainment.

While I was slightly disappointed that the underlying story is very similar to the story of 'A Star is Born' as Jean Dujuardin's silent movie icon finds himself challenged not only by a beautiful new rising star in the charming Berenice Bejo but also the coming age of talkie's which will end the era of silent's.

But with great performances, beautiful old glamorous production design this is a good and entertaining film that can easily be enjoyed by all but is probably of even more interest to cinema buffs as well thanks to it's clear affection for old Hollywood as well.

  The dog steals the show

I was unsure about the Artist at first. I liked the idea of watching a silent film but having grown up in an era of surround sound, massive explosions and ever increasing decibel levels in movies I wasn't actually sure if I'd like it.
After deciding to finally give it a go, i'm glad I did. The film is nothing short of amazing. The story is great, the performances are well acted and the picture quality is top notch.
Of all the performances though it is the dog that steals the show.
Well worth a look and a good film to add to your collection.

Believe the hype. Utterly lifechanging in its scope and intelligence. Film of the year? Case closed. I adored it,

I did not wish to see this film but my wife insisted - and I am glad that she did. A silent movie - me - NO, but I was wrong. Such a delighful
film that is easy to watch, carrying you from one scene to another whilst understanding exactly what is happening. A great story, wonderful dancing, a cast that captures the whole experience and brings you along with it. Visual humour that leaves you laughing, a cute dog who almost captures the film AND you will leave the cinema remembering continually the fantastic music. Overall a great experience. A film not to be missed by the film lover.

  What a movie!

I saw the trailer on the web and i wanted to see it for myself and i never thought that it was this much good. This film brings the silent movies of that era back through time where CG and 3D took over and takes you to a journey like never before.
From the beginning through the end was special and you feel the emotions while watching it.
Its a movie that after you seen it all, you'll realise how precious and important artists where in those days that gave the stepping stone of what it is today and appreciate this magnificent film even more.

  Absolutely amazing film

While I agree that a large number of people, me included, wouldn't have paid this film much attention if it hadn't been for all the hype and nominations, I don't care what made me watch it I'm just so glad that I did as it's an absolute gem of a film from start to finish.
I was worried that, with the amount of praise it was getting, it would be a disappointment but I ended up walking out of the cinema feeling the need to tell everyone I know to go and watch it as it's one of the most beautiful films I've ever seen.

Not good at all just american-like..

This movie is really bad and I know Jean Dujardin as I'm Belgian.. This is his worst movie and nobody cared about it before the Americans noticed this movie...
Do not waste your time and have your OWN opinion!
