The Dictator: The Extended Cut

Another Sacha Baron Cohen film,if you know what he can be like with his satirical wit,i don't see why this should disappoint.
He plays a rubbish dictator trapped in america due to circumstances,so with his usual way of treating people of his dislikng,this causes some offense.
I won't deny a lot of the humour of this is certainly on the sick side,but that's Sacha,surely anyone watching this should know he pushes boundries.
The jokes are very funny,stupid in a lot of cases,but very funny.
Anna Faris is also on top form,playing the girl who looks like a young boy in the dictator's view. The things he says to her and the ones she works with are so very wrong,but it does reflect that kind of ignorance that is sadly still very real in this word,you could argue the jokes are racist or sexist etc... but they poke fun at these kind of remarks,in my opinion anyway.
So many scenes had me laughing in a way i felt almost guilty to,when i think that i didn't think i'd get into this one,being in the world of politics and that,this surprised me.
I would say it's up there with BORAT and BRUNO in that it's very brave humour that is bound to cause a stir,it will offend a lot,but at least it makes a point about attitudes towards various subjects.
Yep,this is a good one.

I really enjoyed this, I havnt seen Bruno or Borat or any other titles that Sacha Boren Cohen has starred in, I found it was really funny and not too much to watch, just under an hour and a half. The acting was quite clichet and cheesy, but it was reasonable. A very funny film indeed, certainly give it a watch.

Sacha Baron Cohen pulls no punches in this movie, he puts everything out there to offend cultures, religions and just about anyone he can! The story is simple and easy to follow leaving you to focus entirely on the comedy at hand. There's a lot of big laughs, stuff that will have you chuckling for minutes. However, there's a lot of little jokes in there which will go missed, some jokes which don't have the same effect and really don't make an impact. Overall it's not a bad movie, it'll entertain and make you laugh, there's a lot in there and might get funnier the more you watch it. Entertaining, worth the watch.

Aladeen is a Gaddafi-a-like lost in New York nand makes it a more traditional comedy than Borat or Bruno with far more projectile defication and the result is exreamly funny. Early on Baron Cohen sets out Aladeen's character and bases him on the rescently... or soon to be departed tyrants and has decreed his name should replace his motherland of Wadiyan words for good and bad. The film is hysterically offensive and all the better for it as nobody is safe, no matter what gender, colour or religion. Scenes involving the stealing of a beard from a corpse and a Munich massacre Wii game don't just cross over the line of good taste but blast it to kingdom come. But sadly what lets the film from being in the class it should be is actually the character of the Dictator himself. Where Borat had a child like charm and Bruno at least had a distinct group to skewer. Aladeen has neither, coming across as an idiotic, pompous, sexist, racist, murdourous arrogan baffoon, of course it's directly aimed at the ones who are now probably cowering in a bunker since the Arab spring took hold or ended up at the wrong end of a rebels bullet. But it makes it harder to like the character of Aladeen, and as such it's highly unlikely anyone will repeat his catchphrases for the year to come.
Anna Faris as the love interest and Ben Kingsley's traitotous bad guy are perfectly good and there are many moments that'll have you howling with laughter especially the birth scene, but in the end The Dictator is neither as Aladeen, nor as Aladeen as it could or should have been.
