From Academy Award-winning filmmaker Andrew Stanton (Best Animated Film, WALL-E, 2008) comes John Carter - a sweeping action-adventure set on the mysterious and exotic planet of Barsoom (Mars). Based on Edgar Rice Burroughs' classic novel, John Carter is a war-weary, former military captain who's inexplicably transported to Mars and reluctantly becomes embroiled in an epic conflict. It's a world on the brink of collapse, and Carter rediscovers his humanity when he realizes the survival of Barsoom and its people rests in his hands. Stunning special effects, great characters and villains - and complete with extraordinary bonus features - John Carter is a heroic and inspirational adventure that will thrill you beyond imagination.

 Much better than expected!

When I first saw the trailer for John Carter I thought it looked good and decided I would see it. Then I heard how badly it had apparently done at the box office and was a little put off the idea of going to see it. However I still wanted to see it, if not just to see what all the fuss was about. So my brother and I went and watched it. Well at the end of the film I was totally lost for words as to how it had received so much criticism. To me it was brilliant! I felt it had an almost perfect mix of culture, technology and captivating story line. It totally satisfied my expectations of such a film and more. My friends and family know I dont easily give out good ratings so when I gave John Carter 9 out of 10 they knew I liked it! I would even go so far as to say I like it more than Avatar. Now thats saying something!

John Carter is a great film

I do not understand why the critics panned this film. Not many people I know have even heard of it, as I think it was poorly advertised. It has a great storyline, brilliant special effects and the feel good factor. Entertaining for the whole family. So glad we saw it at the IMAX, we loved it as much as Avatar but this film had more of a story. Looking forward to the release of the DVD so can watch again with family members who didn't go to see it at the cinema.

Get new critics! One of this years best movies!

Firstly, before I go on I want to say to any company who employ movie critcs...sack them and pay the money to real people who can give an honest review! Right rant over!!
Initially I saw the trailer for John Carter and thought oh yes, finally a decent movie! Then as other reviewers have mentioned I started reading many reviews about how bad this film was etc. However, I've always went on gut instinct so went and saw the movie. I personally thought this was one of the best best action/adventure movies I've seen in a while. Storyline was devised really well and kept me and my partner hooked all the way through. CGI was excellent and never over the top. This film mixes Star Wars/Avatar/Prince of Persia and hints of Indana Jones to make a wonderful film. This may not of done well on its initial release but I'm sure the DVD sales will make up for its box office flop.
I would recommend to anyone who has enjoyed the mentioned movies above. Recommended!
