From Disney and creative genius Tim Burton (Alice in Wonderland, The Nightmare Before Christmas) comes the hilarious and offbeat Frankenweenie, a heartwarming tale about a boy and his dog. After unexpectedly losing his beloved dog Sparky, young Victor hanesses the power of science to bring his best friend back to life - with just a few minor adjustments. He tries to hide his home-sewn creation, but when Sparky gets out, Victor's fellow students, teachers and the entire town learn that getting a new "leash on life" can be monstrous. Complete with electrifying bonus features, Frankenweenie is alive with enchanting fun for the whole family

 My film choice of 2012!!

What's this? Tim Burton makes a movie without Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter?? Can't remember the last time that happened!! And it's ironic that this film is being made by Disney, the very studio that fired Tim Burton for making the original short film that this is based on back in the 80's too! A beautiful love letter and homage to black and white horror classics, Frankenweenie is the story of Victor, a young boy whose dog gets killed and he can't get over it so after being inspired one day in science class he decides he is going to bring his beloved dog Sparky back from the dead! While sadly i feel a lot of the jokes and references to classic horror films will go over a lot of kids heads, there is plenty for the film buff to enjoy. The lead character is called Victor Frankenstein and watch out for characters called Van Helsing and Edgar E Gore (Get it? E Gore?)and plenty of other sight gags. The black and white stop motion animation is fantastic to look at and this is at heart a touching, very funny story of a boy and his beloved dog! Tim Burton's best film in years. A must see!

Top 100 Music Reviewer

Some might fear TIM BURTON may no longer have it,worry not, this is likely to be considered one of his best for some time.
A young boy becomes heartbroken over his dog dying, but in science class, gets the idea of reanimating his canine pal,so the fun begins.
The jokes maay not have been as fast and frequent as i was expecting, plus the fact there's no colour might seem brave, but it is still a movie to watch again and again because it's so brilliantly made.
It's an interesting idea to stay true to the old black and whites and use that, along with images and jokes from those old movies that mostly adults will get. It's all very well done, charcters that are very likeable, that burton style animation and a message about life and death to finish it off nicely.
True it might get some kids thinking the message is if your pet dies, plug it into a socket, but i think the movie does a good job of explaining how science should be used correctly. There are certainly enough funny moments to keep all ages happy, even if not as thick and fast as some animated films, but what get here is that Burton genius. He dazzles, even in black and white!
