From the makers of the cult classic THE WICKER MAN, and based on director Robin Hardy's own novel 'Cowboys for Christ', a Texas gospel singer and her boyfriend, both devout evangelical Christians, are sent to Scotland on a mission to spread the word of God. After a concert in Glasgow Cathedral the pair are invited by Sir Lachlan Morrison to preach in his remote border village. They assume their host simply wants to hear more about the Bible and are delighted when offered central roles in the fiefdom's May Day celebrations, especially their custom of the Riding of the Laddie. But soon the horrifying reality dawns on the naïve couple as they learn the true significance of the Celtic pagan rites. Reuniting Hardy with legendary actor Christopher Lee for a story in the style of the 1973 landmark fantasy comes the most eagerly anticipated horror movie of the year.

 Surprisingly good!

The original Wicker Man is something of a sacred cow of horror cinema; the recent Nicholas Cage remake was a travesty. I was dubious when I heard that a sequel to the original had been made. I watched this expecting to hate it. Was it ever going to live up to The Wicker Man? No. Is it a bad movie? No. Less of a sequel and more of a variation on a theme, The Wicker Tree is not a bad British horror/dark comedy and is certainly worth watching, even if you are a fan of the first film and can see what is coming a mile off! Go along with The Wicker Tree and you might enjoy the ride.

If you are a fan of the original Wicker Man film then I would seriously avoid this disaster. I love the original and despite the bad reviews for this sequel I still decided to give it a chance. Such a waste of money!! It truly is one of the worst films I have ever seen. It has possibly tarnished my opinion of the original Wicker man film. The quality of the story, acting and production values are all terrible and if it is "meant" to be funny then I must of completely missed the point as it isn't in any way. Terrible, terrible film!

 Waste of Money

Compared to the original, this remake is a disaster and typically American. A total waste of money.
It is nothing like the original, having moved location from Scotland to America and ruined the film in the process. It is beyond me why they attempted the remake. They would have been better giving it another title altogether but obviously wanted to cash in on the name - they should not have bothered as they failed.
