Written by James Ellroy (L.A. Confidential) and directed by Oren Moverman (The Messenger), Rampart stars Academy Awards nominees Woody Harrelson, Ned Beatty, Sigourney Weaver, and Steve Buscemi, Ice Cube, Cynthia Nixon, Anne Heche, Ben Foster, and Robin Wright.

Veteran police officer Dave Brown (Woody Harrelson) is the last of the renegade cops in the Los Angeles Police Department, dedicated to doing "the people's dirty work" and asserting his own code of justice. When he gets caught on tape beating a suspect, he finds himself in a downward spiral as he struggles to take care of his family, and fight for his own survival. Rampart is a brutal and action-packed cop thriller.

I'm not going to be as harsh on this one as others but I can't say that it's a must buy or an essential viewing either as it's story of an L.A cop descending into the hell of his own making isn't new and nor will 'Rampart' put much of a new spin on it either.

But the central performance of Woody Harrelson as Dave Brown is certainly one that he gets right into. Alongside a slew of good actors in various size supporting roles (Sigourney Weaver, Steve Buscemi, Cynthia Nixon and Robin Wright) the film eventually began to draw me in enough to Dave's situation as the circle begins to close in him and he faces up to his actions and personal wrongs. He's very solid and I also liked a couple of visual flourishes director Oren Moverman brought to the film.

I wasn't a big fan of the ending of the film either however, as it leaves you with no real sense of full resolution but I also can't say that I found the whole film a waste of time either.

I probably would just never rush to watch it again.

 Really dissapointing..

I was really looking forward to this.Woody Harrelson normally churns out top films.I found this to bo soooo booooring - very little action, story was some what confusing at times and even the top notch actors in this could not save it.I stuck through this even though my hand wavered over the fast forward button at times. The ending left everything up in the air and for love or money I can never get the wasted time i spent on this back.Total waste of time..

ABSOLUTE RUBBISH, REALLY SLOW AND BORING

This is undoubtedly one of the most boring movies I have sat through. Almost no action and certainly not deserving of all the accolades, wish I had saved my money to be honest.

 Just terrible!

Probably the most boring movie I have ever seen. Has no real story to it. Wait the entire movie for something to happen and literally nothing ever does. It really is terrible!
