Operation Amsterdam
One of the covert operations at the beginning of World War II is enacted in this fast-paced thriller about a government-approved diamond heist. A Major from the British army (Tony Britton) joins up with a Dutch diamond expert (Alexander Knox) and another adventurous Dutchman (Peter Finch) to steal a fortune in diamonds from a bank vault in Amsterdam. There is no time to waste as it is estimated that the city will be overrun by the Nazi army in just fourteen hours. Meanwhile, the war is intensifying all around them, and the Nazi soldiers already on patrol are a continual threat.

Theirs Is The Glory
Earned some of the highest critical praise ever afforded a British wartime docudrama.
This is the filmed record of the ill-fated and possibly the most harrowing battles of WWII - the Battle of Arnhem.
In September of 1944, when the Allied forces combined to force a total German retreat from Holland. The "bridge too far" at Arnhem proved to be the Waterloo of this particular strategy, due to a series of unforeseen mishaps and miscalculations.
Of the 10,000 troops engaged in the offensive, 8,000 lost their lives. Without sugar-coating the disaster, the film highlights the courage and sacrifice of the men involved in the mission.

Conspiracy Of Hearts
Italian nuns are smuggling Jewish children out of an internment camp near their convent to save them from the Holocaust. The Italian army officer in charge suspects what may be going on but deliberately turns a blind eye. When the Germans take over the camp security the nuns' activities become far more dangerous.
Starring Lilli Palmer, Sylvia Syms and Albert Lieven; and nominated for a Golden Globe in 1961.

Sapphire
Basil Dearden's ground-breaking tale starring Nigel Patrick and Michael Craig portraying two Scotland Yard detectives who are investigating the murder of a young black woman who had been passing for white. As timely a topic today as when made in an England rampant with racial prejudice in the 1950s, it stays just this side of an in-depth indictment of racism and bigotry as the detectives investigate the vast array of suspects - everyone from the girl's white boyfriend and his parents who feared that the association would destroy his career to the boys that the girl had spurned when she was accepted by white society.
