Many fans of the books on which the series is based have been somewhat critical of the changes and edits made in this second season. Having not read the books myself I cant comment on that but judged purely on its own merits, as really it should be, Game of Thrones continues to excel in every department.
As with the first season there are still plenty of long scenes of dialogue required in order to explain the complex world of Westeros but thanks to some fantastic writing and brilliant performances from the entire cast these are just as interesting as the often brutal action interspersed between. Quite how the creators have managed to create such an epic series on a television budget, even one as large as HBO have provided, I will never know.

In comparison to the first series, the second has proved underwhelming, and lacks the punch and impact I'd hoped would continue throughout.
The cast, production and sets are brilliant, but the storylines are all over the place and seem lacking in any direction or strength.
The fact that series 1 had strong leading characters and plotlines has unfortunately resulted in providing a benchmark, which this series doesn't quite live up to. Various scenes also appear to rely on dialogue which at times prove unnecessary and only serve to fill time.
Hopefully series 3 will offer the brilliance and impact that series 1 delivered.
Focusing more on tension, than of providing out and out thrills, the second series of Game of Thrones has a very slow fuse indeed. However, with a cast to dream of , and a spectacle that lesser production teams can only aspire to achieve, we are surely in for a mind blowing treat in the closing episodes.
If you saw season one then you have already seen season 2.
It is simply a re-edit on season one with most of the best bits left out
