Premiered almost a year ago at the Edinburgh Film Festival at a screening attended by key members of cast and crew, this finally receives a well deserved release.

It's neither groundbreaking nor unique, but it is a solid piece of horror entertainment, well filmed with good use of the claustrophobic location, and wisely plays with the darkness as a tool rather than cheap and tacky effects.

The acting is generally excellent, a rarity for horror, with the key exception of the lead actress, though in the second half, she at least proves she can scream believably.

It's good to see homegrown British horror, especially one that has its own voice rather than following the route that so much American horror has taken in the last decade of mindless killing of obnoxious teens with no narrative, and if there is any justice this film will finally get the wider audience it deserves, as it is a better work than many that generic studio abominations that clog up multiplex screens.
