Josh Hutcherson, Dane Cook and Spencer Locke star in Detention, a hipster, teen horror-comedy where the local students of Grizzly Lake must survive their final year of high school. Standing in their way is Cinderhella, a slasher-movie killer who has seemingly come to life and is preying on the school's student body. As the clock ticks and the bodies pile up, the likely suspects are embroiled in a race against time to stop Cinderhella and ultimately save the world... if only they can get out of detention.

 Worst film of 2012!

| | See all Terminatorfan's reviews (4)

Please don't buy this film. It's rubbish! I know it's a parody of horror films but that ship has sailed. Josh Hutcherson is a great actor but why he's in this I don't know! Perhaps he wanted someone to pay his bills. The film starts off like someone's just watched Scott pilgrim and done a million references to it (in-jokes). 5 mins in, I wanted to be shot. It's really, really terrible. I thought Jason Friedberg and his rubbish film buddy had made this but no!

The film is a constant film referencing enclyopedia that is just plain silly. I don't mind someone referencing something if it has a purpose or if it has meaning but this is not the way to do it. You don't just reference films which aren't even horror films. This film references Donnie Darko, Breakfast Club, True Romance and Dirty Dancing. It's just ridiculous.

The acting in this film is horrendous. It looks like Josh hutcherson was having fun but in reality, bet he wanted out on this film. It's really the worst film I've ever seen recently and If i wanted to, I'd award it zero stars. Also, the worst film of 2012 by a mile. I thought Eddie Murphy's recent film A Thousand words was bad but this is even worse!

This film is nothing more than someone around a table with a bunch of people who want to make a film so desperately, that they throw in a bunch of ideas and put it into one film. This film features a bully who turns into a bully, a bear who time travels using a ufo! An un-popular getting drunk and thinking she's a porno star like Lady Gaga. The list goes on and I'd be wasting my time if i went through every-one of them.

Overall: 0.5/10= Only for Josh hutcherson but this film is awful. Whereas Scott pilgrim will be remembered, this film won't and I'd be glad it wasn't because it sucked!

 Recommend!

I thought this film was great! If you're a fan of eighties teen movies, teen horror and random sci-fi, give it a go :D
