All The Boys Love Mandy Lane

There is nothing original here; the same irritating teenagers, the same uninventive deaths. All they've done is update the setting, so now you have to spend time watching annoying goth kids lust around for a while before they get killed. I'm trying hard to understand why anyone would believe this to be a novel entry in the genre - erm, is it because it's even more obvious who the killer is and they reveal this fact far too early in the film?

One of the best indie/slasher/thrillers ever! It doesn't feel like your typical teen horror, a story is told and it intriegues you to follow. The characters are well developed and the story keeps you interested right up until the end. Unlike other slashers (think anything by Eli Roth) you actually FEEL for the characters and its surprising when they start to die. Fantastic camera work and great directing make this your must-see horror for 2008.

I am very surprised by the number of negative reviews here. I guess if you are expecting another mindless gorefest you may be dissappointed but if you fancy a rather more intelligent attempt at injecting a bit of artistry and subtext into the slasher film I'd suggest you give it a try.

The film has a dreamy, summery sort of atmobsphere with a deep sense of forboding bubbling under the surface and its refusal to follow the generic formula is kinda refreshing considering how commercially successful films like that terrible black christmas remake were. Its realistic and playful, teasing genre fans with cliches then throwing in neat little swerves that leave you second guessing it.

Also its rather unusual that slasher victims get to be such well rounded characters. the film is packed with characterisation and this means when people do start to die theres at least a sense that they arent just supposed to be more young meat for the slasher genre to gobble up.

Great soundtrack too.

A great horror film with a sexy cast, the story is pretty original and lots of fun once everyone starts dying. Watch out for the twist as you never see it coming. Worth getting at this price to add to your horror collection.

Very nicely arriving on British shores before the good ole United States, "All The Boys Love Mandy Lane" seems to be at first glance just another teenage slasher movies that hits all the "right" wrong buttons (the mix of characters; the jock, the stoner, the black kid and the obvious killer) BUT this really is something else with director Jonathan Levine channelling the spirit of Gregg Araki as much as Tobe Hooper... Throw in stylishly gritty photgraphy and a good amount of gore, this film does hit the right buttons by the twisted climax!

Extra wise the disc contains nothing more than a trailer and a nice interview with lead (and yes, hottie) Amber Heard, however the transfer is spot on!
