set in 'berlin' at the end of the 2nd world war (europe) the war torn city becomes the object of territorial occupation
by the 'usa' and 'russia'
'jake' ( george clooney ) a military jouralist becomes involved in a search for his ex-lover's supposedly dead husband, the ex-lover 'lena brandt' played by 'cate blanchett'
'tulley' ( tobey maguire of 'spiderman' fame ) plays a
part of a military 'driver' who is assigned to take 'jake'
around 'berlin' 'tobey' is also involved with 'lena' and has
promised to get her out of 'berlin'
'tulley' also has a thriving 'black market' involvement.
this film has the lot, betrayel, mystery and murder to name just a few facets.
with a superb performance by the talented 'cate blanchett'
well supported by the film's 'star' 'george clooney' not to mention a credible part by 'tobey maguire' the film screened in 'black and white' is a worthwhile watch.
