Jack's back!

Season 6 picks up 20 months after last season's shocking season finale, when Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland) was captured by Chinese government agents - battered, bloodied and header for points unknown. Wayne Palmer (DB Woodside) is now the President of the United States. After a series of horrific terrorist attacks, Palmer and his team of advisors begin an unthinkable nail-biting day.

Not the best, but still a great season.

Once again, jack is launched into another hectic 24 hours to catch a group of terrorists who threaten the US. There is a strong feeling of déjà vous in this season, the story is in many ways just too similar to the previous season, and it also lacks the edge of your seat tension that previous seasons had. Having said that, it concludes the main story half a dozen episodes before the end to pursue another storyline that neatly brings conclusion to the "outstanding" issues in Jack's life, which at least breaks the similarity with previous seasons. It's not as fast and edgy, but it's still a great show, and well worth the almost giveaway price that it's selling for a the moment.

 Terrible, Don't buy it!

I have bought the first five seasons from Play and they are excellent. If you want to see Jack at his best buy one of the first five seasons.
Season six is 24 on its last legs. The plot is very similar to previous series and quite repetitive in parts. It was the first time i was completely bored watching it.
I was very disappointed with it and you will be too if your a 24 fan who has watched 24 from the start.

I can think of only one audience that this may appeal to and thats first time 24 viewers. It may seem amazing to them having not seen the same thing for 5 full days before.

Not just the one plot & so much better than 24 at its worst

I deliberately waited for the annual price reduction to get Series 6 for £17.99, but I really don't know what people are complaining about calling Series 6 the worst season ever - do they not remember Series 3 with its barely daytime-soap-opera-quality B plots? Only the main storyline was any good and the rest was padding until the very end.

Series 6 does repeat one major event from earlier in 24's history but with greater consequences, develops another character from previous seasons to a much greater degree and continues the theme of Jack and family just like the first two seasons. The overall political sabre-rattling between the superpowers is also well written and acted. There's one event that's repeated for the third time and that grates a little but I enjoyed the rest.

Other than Series 1, Overall I have enjoyed the 4th series as second best, this latest season is on a par with series 2 or 5 but simply ends one plot and begins another rather than padding out the one story. Ironically, the writers' strike might be the best thing to happen to the show, it'll give more time to make series 7 something new. The ending is much calmer than in previous years because the biggest fireworks happened earlier, but there's nothing wrong with some emotion rather than just slam bang action throughout the entire 18 hours.

season 6 has re-written the way jack goes about doing what he does best and it has come of brilliantly!!! each episode shows another side of this broken man in yet another day from hell.

this was the season that shouldnt have happened

to be completely honest, while i love 24 and everything, this was only mildly entertaining.

after so many regulars were killed off in the previous season, Jack Bauer's character has been left isolated. alot of the best bits of previous seasons have come from older characters and their relationships with Jack and to each other. it added to the drama of it and gave 24 a certain humanity. it doesnt help that Jack is basically a superman-type. the writers could have done so much more with his ordeal between the end of the season 5 and the start of this one but they only touch on it very gently and then after a few episodes, Jack is back to his normal self.

also, this series just throws together numerous old set-pieces together. almost all of the 'pivotal' bits have been recycled from past seasons. the last 6 or so episodes with the Chinese story-arc are excellent, but overall it feels like you've seen it all before. its compelling, but nowhere near as good as past seasons.

heres hoping the forthcoming season 7 is the 'rebirth' myself, and many other fans are hoping for!
