I Bet many sad people will give me poor feedback or whatver, but this film is Hilarious, so so funny if you want to chill back with some m8s, some beers, and some laughs, buy this compliments a great evenin.
Almost 20 years since the family first broke onto our screens. This film has been a long time coming, but to make the film way back in the early 90's would have been a huge mistake. In the 20 years the characters have developed and grown, so to make a movie now would be perfect timeing. The film is so funny, allot of the gags are physical slapstick, these will connect with the kids, but it's the other gags, as with the brilliant dialogue that will make adults laugh. But the film does have a few problems. Some of the characters are just camio's and the side story with Lisa's first love falls a little flat. But if you want Homer at his best, then this is the film. Just watch him with his new love ( SPIDER-PIG ) and the uncomfortable scene where Homer expresses his true feelings towards the Pig fringes on Beastiality! This movie could have been three episodes strung into one. This is not the case as the movie does have a propper story. Any Simpsons fan should buy this film, as it would sit nice on the shelf with the other Simpsons DVD's you no doubt will have.
I'm confused as to how people believe this is a 5 star movie, unless the episodes of the Simpsons those people like the best are the ones where Homer gets "assaulted" by a panda. To me, the film only highlighted the problems that this show has had for the better part of a decade. What was the point of Lisa? What was the point of the pig, apart from a shallow plot device? Remember when the Simpsons had a surreal look on everyday stories? Yeah, not any more. Springfield is in a dome! What biting political satire! Even Itchy and Scratchy failed to be funny because it went on too long. Were this a stand-alone movie, or even a family guy movie, i may have liked it. But it wasn't, it was the Simpsons, which used to be the best show on television. Now its the wacky adventures of mean spirited selfish idiot Homer and his wacky pals. Do yourself a favour and watch the series 3-8 golden age of the Simpsons before you go declaring this the best film ever, because it is an embarrassment compared to those excellent episodes.
One of the best films I have ever seen and a must for all The Simpsons fans. Unfortunately, the media have bad mouthed this film and as usual all the sheep with no mind of their own have jumped on the bandwagon and gone along with their views.
For those of us who can make our own mind up and don't need to be told what we can can't like then this film will be highly enjoyable. A laugh a minute from start to finish.
Finally, a message to all those who have (as usual) based their opinions on the so called "open minded" press reviews and are slagging the film off trying to be original and individualistic. Get a life! This film is one of the best you'll ever see and if for once you actually make up your own mind instead of being so weak willed that you have to get someone else to tell you what to think (in this case the media) then you may actually find that you'll enjoy things a hell of a lot more!
There's nothing wrong with the Simpsons movie; it has plenty of good gags, and is perfectly enjoyable to sit through. Trouble is, it's just not what the Simpsons should be about - by making it into a film they've tried to make it BIG, and so most of what made the first few series so enjoyable has gone. If anything it feels more like an extended Halloween episode. Perhaps it just doesn't suit the big screen, but considering the length of time it took to write, you'd have expected a higher gag rate. There really is no excuse, South Park showed how you could take a TV show and turn it into an even better movie, but this really is just three episodes stuck together, with some gags removed to make way for an attempt at plot.
