What a movie, based on a true story with the odd elements thrown in for cinematic purposes but to the whole true to what happened, the Rock plays his best role in a movie to date, the cinematography is great especially during the match segments.
Along the lines of Coach Carter in a way but imo more fulfilling and offers more into what each of them is going through being where they are.
an absolute steal for 4.99
9/10

Well if your are feeling down then this is the sort of film you want to be sticking on. Its a true story of these young afenders who have no hope in life and then they are handed a life line in the form of american football. The story line flows really well and has a great cast. If you are a Rock fan then it is a must see. You know what you are going to get if you are watching a film with the rock in it. A lot of laugths and reasonably good acting.
brilliant

This is a really enjoyable film based on a true story and which is made more believable by the actors in the film. The "Rock" plays a perfect part in the film and simply enhances his acting ability to new heights. For he plays a believable footbal coach character who has a dream of turning a group of young inmates into more than just losers and to believe in themselves. He gives these young men a serious challenge to learn not only to respect themselves but each other. Irrespective of what gang they belong to, and to escape from their wasted lives where violence and death is accepted as the norm in their world. So he organises the formating of a football team called "Mustangs"for which the inmates are the players and they have to work together and depend upon each other to gain each others respect. This film does not contain a single ounce of gung Ho claptrap. Just good value entertainment attached to good acting by all concerned. This is well worth a viewing folks. So just sit back and enjoy.
A touching tale of self respect...

In brief, the Rock breaks from tradition and plays a serious, hardhitting role similar to the one he played in Walking Tall as opposed to the "action man" persona he usually plays. To his credit, he pulls it off fantastically well! One becomes emersed in the story and towards the end of the film, you genuinely feel for the characters and thier well being, along with thier furture. Xzibit also provides great support.
The film is based upon a true story which becomes apparent in the end credits. A touching monologue, showing the real life character that the Rock portrays and the impact he had in teaching the kids self respect, confidence and self esteem.
A must for any film fan. Period.
A new direction

firstly ... rbmusicman did you even watch the film? soccer?!?!?! its about american football mate.
as others have said this film is similar to coach carter; Dwayne Johnson works in a juvenile detention unit and starts a football team to teach the boys discipline and committment. Overall an enjoyable watch, with the rock taking on a new role and demonstrating his diversity as an actor. Reccommended to football fans
'a bit different for 'dwayne' 'region 1 watched'

not the normal 'action packed' showcase for 'dwayne johnson ' ( the rock )
in this he persuades the prison govener's to let him train
a group of inmates to be competitive and to channel their
natural aggression into a team sport 'soccer' which he
hopes will give them a sense of 'teamwork' depending on
each other for support.
obviously there are a lot of up's and down's along the way, even having to convince the 'board of govener's' all
over again to invest prison funds in the project.
it's not a bad rollercoaster ride, 'the rock' has different
acting skills to achieve, and he dosn't do himself any harm
in that quest.
worth a watch at least !
Excellent!
