Customer rating: 5 out of 5 stars Really loved this film!

Thoroughly enjoyed the film, a great concept, good acting, great story - something a bit different and with so many films just a slightly different take on the one previous this really caught my attention as I wasn't sure what to expect. I own this and The Prestige and love them both equally. I could watch them over and over again and probably will!

Customer rating: 1 out of 5 stars Boring, Predictable and not worth the effort

This had the potential to be a good film, its the kind of film I like however maybe my standards are high, the acting is relatively good however the plot is predictableand some parts are just laughable, characters are almost "cartoon" like in depth.. I gave my copy away... waste of space on my shelf!

If you haven't seen 'Prestige' with Hugh Jackman, then The Illusionist will not dissapoint. Edward Norton plays the love struck illusionist just a little too cooly to convince. The twist is worth the asking price, though unlike its more successful forerunner starring Jackman, Caine and Bowie, you are unlikely to want to watch this twice.

If you like slow and brooding with a sense of the mysterious then you will enjoy this film, though at times slow becomes plodding and moody runs the risk of becoming wooden. It is a refreshing change to be able to watch a film that doesn't swear at you or cover you in blood so for those reasons alone, it gets another star.

Customer rating: 5 out of 5 stars you`ll like it,quite a lot !

i loved the prestige, would give it 11 out of 10 if i could.someone told me this was a love story and i should approach with caution.yes it is a love story but what a cracking film it is. edward norton smoulders, jessica biel (not the worlds greatest actress) is superb and paul giamatti in an understated role as police chief is fantastic.i loved it from start to finish and can not praise it too much.maybe if i had watched this before `the prestige`, i may have had a different view,as for marks out of 10,its got to be 10.magical !!!!

Know where near as previous magician films e.g The Prestige, but worth a look.
I didn't actually understand what the hell was going on, probably because I was and drifted off and stopped paying attention.
I suppose it has it's moments, but still worth watching.

This is a film any film lover should have in his library. It is a film of quality, much better than most of the rubbish that has done the rounds recently. I know rubbish when I see it, I watched The Condemned the other night (God help us all). After that, any film will look good!!

At Plays price, The Illusionist is a must have purchase.

Totally believed I was watching Vienna in 1900 until one face crept in and shattered the illusion. . . .Max Branning from Eastenders. (Correct me if I'm wrong). This didn't spoil the film completely as he had a minimal part but it did the film no favours at all for me. I did enjoy the film and the end was rather good. Watch it if you have a spare couple of hours.

Mr Norton never fails to deliver. Excellent film with a sound story line and superb cinematography.. You are well rewarded by the end of the film with a very usual suspects feel to the conclusion.
