The story is great, small town invaded by body snatching aliens that get you whilst you sleep, lone hero trying to escape and warn everyone else.
The DVD is interesting in that it gives a black and white version as well as a colour rendered one (quite well done), but knowing how much of a classic this film is its not really got that much extras on it.

Customer rating: 2 out of 5 stars What a disappointment!

No reflection on Play.com, but, I received my eagerly-awaited DVD of this film this morning. What a let-down! I get better film-quality recording movies "off-air" via the USB TV Stick on my computer!

It's no secret that this film is the one by which most other science-fiction films are judged, and, quite frankly, Universal hasn't delivered, and, let their loyal customers down.

Where is the Feature Length commentary? Where is the Theatrical Trailer? Where are all the other Featurettes, and, Extras that other film companies see fit to release with their Anniversary Editions? Last, but by no means least, where is the classic artwork available on the Region 1 release?

I have recent DVD's of "The Thing from another Planet", "Earth vs. the Flying Saucers", "Invaders from Mars", "The Day the Earth Stood Still", and, "It Came from Outer Space", and, watch them via Cyberlink's PowerDVD on my Pentium 4 pc. Without exception, their quality of transfer, and/or, "bundled extras", are far superior to this release.

If I didn't know any better, I would swear that Universal transferred an NTSC copy to PAL for this release, rather than transferring an original film copy to PAL.

It's a testament to the original production that it still shines through this travesty.

I can only echo the comments of 'The Oldstager' and say I too was looking forward to the extras such as a Commentary, The Making of the Film etc. Given the time it has taken to release this classic onto DVD it is very disappointing! What a let down!!

Customer rating: 5 out of 5 stars A long overdue DVD!

One of the best remembered films of the golden age of science fiction, and rightly so - I just hope that the packaging and extras of the disc match the quality of the feature, as it deserves recognition and respect.

I've not watched this in years, and despite the temptation, I am refusing to dig out my old VHS copy, instead savouring the wait for this shiny beauty to arrive.

Customer rating: 5 out of 5 stars A TRULY AMAZING SCIENCE FICTION MOVIE!

The title may indicate that that you are about to watch a "B" movie but this is anything but. 'Invasion of the Body Snatchers' not only is a genuinely suspenseful cracker but it enhanced the career of the director, Don Siegel (Coogans Bluff, Dirty Harry) and the career of the lead star, Kevin McCarthy. There is also a cameo from the soon-to-be legendary Sam Peckinpah. The idea that humans are being replaced by pods from another planet may sound absurd but the parallels with the McCarthyism politics present in the United States at the time and the sheer professionalism of everyone involved with telling a great story with such pinache is such a joy to behold. Remade twice, 'Invasion of the Body Snatchers' ranks as possible the greatest science fiction film of them all. Owning a copy of the film is essential. Watching the movie is a MUST!
