Lifelong friends Harry and Karl (David Mitchell and Robert Webb) are the greatest magic double act in the country. But after a guillotine illusion goes horribly and spectacularly wrong, their friendship and their careers are finished.

Now, down on his luck and out of cash, Harry sets his sights on the prize money of the prestigious 'International Magic Shield' tournament. But to win he will have to compete against the world's oddest magicians - including his deadly rival Karl, performing under the guise of ridiculous psychic 'The Mindmonger'.

Can new tricks and a new assistant help Harry to triumph over his underhanded opponents and his disastrous past?

 Not great, but decent

If you like Peep Show, you would probably be slightly disapointed with this. Not their best stuff, as the characters are too similar to Jez and Mark. Worth a rent, and probably worth buying at this price (I did).

as soon as I saw 'funded by the national lottery' I knew it would be poor. I love the peep show but this film was a serious let down, the story was predictable and slow I feel embarrassed for Mitchell and Webb

 I'm a fan.

Gotta be honest, didn't watch Peep show but I saw that Mitchell and Webb look and loved it. It's refreshing to see the return of witty comedians as opposed to physical comedy (and I use that word loosely) which centers around visual gags which are not that funny. I was really impressed with Magicians, it didn't take itself to seriously which is what in the end you want in a comedy, well, I do, I want something thats going to make me laugh and Magicians did that and then some!

I thought this film was quite good. It didn't stand out from other films I've seen in the pass but it's one that I'd happily watch again if I had the oppirtunity.

 Where was the magic?

David Mitchell and Robert Webb are two funny guys... in the comedy 'That Mitchell and Webb Look' but unfortunatly not in 'Magicians'. To be honest, I got a little bored within twenty minutes of the film. From the title, I was expecting more magic. The storyline was based on two magicians who go in for one competition which you see ten minutes towards the end of the film. The rest of the film is just focused on Mitchell and Webb preparing for the magic competition.
Overall, I think the two comedians should stick to what they are really brilliant at - 'Peep Show' and 'That Mitchell and Webb Look'.
