Walt Disney's 14th animated masterpiece bursts with fantasy, adventure, and pixie dust! The magic begins when the boy who "never grows up" flies through the Darlings' nursery window in search of his lost shadow. Accompanied by his feisty sidekick, Tinker Bell, Peter teaches Wendy, John, and Michael to fly and they're off to the "second star to the right" and straight ahead to Never Land! Before they know it, they're knee-deep in high-flying battle with swashbuckling pirates, led by Peter's archenemy, Captain Hook whose time is nearly up against a ticktocking crocodile.

From the stunning starlit London skies to the glorious first sight of Never Land, including the memorable songs "You Can Fly! You Can Fly! You Can Fly!" "Following The Leader," and "A Pirate's Life For Me," Peter Pan defines Disney Magic, reminding us all again and again that childhood dreams live forever.

     Magical Disney Classic

    | | See all platform14's reviews (5)

Yet another in Disney's platinum special edition series, Peter Pan is the most surprisingly sparse in terms of bonus content - the usual extensive documentaries and classic Walt Disney shows from the original time period is replaced by shorter featurettes available on previous editions and more kids games than ever. A big wastage of disc space is on Disc 2 where the film is repeated AGAIN except with "read along" description (somehow this is different to subtitles)
The film though is as entertaining as ever; annoyingly, the quest for superior film quality leaves some colours looking denser than they should and Hook's once vibrant red coat looking more of a maroon.
Still, if you haven't yet upgraded the film onto next generation video already or if you don't currently own it, a platinum edition is obviously the best way to go for it. It probably won't be rereleased for at least 7 years so go for it!

i think out of all the early 'disney' classics this film inspires the imagination of youngsters best of all, going to a wonderous place and having a out of this world adventure.
this was one of my favourite films as a child, and it is still entertaining a new generation over '50' years later.
'disney' adds 'magic' to this 'j.m.barry' classic tale.
from 'tinker bell' to the 'ticking' croc' not to mention the
antics at the 'darling' house prior to the journey to 'neverland' ( not forgetting the usual 'disney' style songs )
this is a must-have 'family film' great for all ages, and at this price grab it before it dissapears again.

Maybe not top rank Disney, but this animated take on the J.M. Barrie classic has its charms. A labour of love for Disney himself, the material has been thoroughly Americanized, but some of the characterisation is delightful (namely Hook and his crocodile nemesis and especially the feisty little Tinker Bell) and it looks as magical as the story it tells.
