I was really looking forward to watching this film when i rented it out but i thought it was a slow film and i only really liked it for a bit half way through. And what was with the end bit really odd i thought. It was ok but definately wont buy. I was really disappointed with this film as because of the cast i thought it would be really good but really found it boring and far too long over 2 hours!!!!

Fascinating and wonderful. It really did not know what to expect from this film, but i thought for a fiver why not give it a go.
As soon as i started to watch it was glued to the screen. It is portrayed wonderfully and very tastefully by a wonderful, star studded cast. The actor who played the main character will most definaltey be in a few more big movies in the near future ... he did a fab job.
It is based on a true story i believe. The story line is pretty weird, but at the same time extremely intriguing. There are some pretty horrible bits in there as well, but they all have their place in the movie ... they are not just put in for the sake of showing a bit of gore.
Overall, i really enjoyed this movie expereicne, and it was very different and unusual which is always good. I will definatley watch it again, and the more you watch it, the more persepctives i think you will see it from.
My advice: buy it and give it a try.

Customer rating: 4 out of 5 stars La perfum

Fascinating, enchanting, revolting, exuberating, all as though I cannot complete 'thirteen' elements of description, le perfum is quite a captivating experience of magnifying beauty itself...which demands to be inhaled by all who breathe!
There is nothing of a fragrance in the air...but a soul, a poet...and that form as Jean-Baptiste Grenouille the main protagonist and in some views also the antagonist. This film will certainly provoke your thinking of ugliness and beauty.

Ben Wishaw is a diamond find in this film. He has to carry this film in the shadow of Dustin Hoffman & Alan Rickman. It is lyrical, wistful and dreamlike, the murders being only a means to an end. Talking of the end...there could have been no oher way.

Customer rating: 5 out of 5 stars One of my favourite movies.

I saw this movie on Sky, and when it started, I thought probably just another Sky cheapo filler. How mistaken I was, I very soon became engrossed in this very different movie. I loved it so much, that I came to Play.com to buy a copy.
I have now watched the film 3 times, and am sure I will watch it several times more. This is to me a superb Film, with a wonderful cast, and great acting. If all films were only half as good as this, how happy all film lovers would be.

Customer rating: 5 out of 5 stars A Beautifully Dark Fairytale

I was in the pub the other night and a friend aksed me if I'd seen this old piece of tripe about a guy who could smell knickers from miles away. I asked my friend if she was talking about Perfume and she was. She was amazed that I categorised the movie as a fairytale, until I went on to talk about the dark origins of most fairytales (for example in Cinderella, the ugly sister cut off her toes to fit in the slipper - there's blood in the shoe). I loved this movie for that very reason. The narration is reminiscent of Chocolat and the acting is excellent. I also loved the decision to have a story set in France with characters speaking in a cockney accent. . One of those oddball cinematic licenses. Its great - watch it! Ben Whishaw is fantastic as always!

This film is not a patch on the book. Its not a really bad film, just think there a lot of elements missing which dont make such an interesting watch. The look of the film is good and its shot well. Story and plot let it down.
