Deja Vu starts off excellently and draws you into the believable storyline. Sadly it then goes into an unbelievable storyline of bending time to look into the past, and then entering the past.

Even if you had a PHD about time travel you could probaly not understand this film and as per usual for a Hollywood film there is a happy ending even though they shouldn't have been, the paradox has always been that if you kill your granddad in the past, then in the future you would not have been born, but this gets broken to provide wimpy namby pamby americans a happy ending.

Good but unbelievable.

Customer rating: 5 out of 5 stars One of the best films I've seen in a long time!

Denzil Washington is brilliant and gives a superb performance as the man assigned to investigate the aftermath of a terrorist attack. Unlike virtually all other timetraveling movies, this one is unique in that it is believable. If timetravel ever becomes reality, this film shows what it would likely be like.

Must see, ignore any bad reviews, this film is top notch!

'Far-fetched' is the understatement of the year. This movie is very cheesy and is completely unbelievable at times which made it very difficult to watch. I mean, if they did have a machine that could look back in time, it certainly wouldn't be controlled by the people that were in the film and you wouldn't just be able to gain access to it via a keycard at a door. Many many things like this during the film. Could have been a lot better.

15 people i know went to see this at the cinema when it came out as well as myself.16 people said it was the best film of the year.what a great concept,a fantastic thrill ride, well shot with the style we have come to expect from tony scott and of course one of the best actors ever, denzel washington once again makes his prescence felt in a film that should be up there with some of the best.a hybrid of thriller, science fiction and murder mystery,i really cant praise it enough.

It's rare when Hollywood try something a bit different. This story is about how an investigator has the chance to go back in time 4.5 days leading up to a terrorist atrocity, to try and prevent the killer from carrying out his massacre. It could have been a classic, but the scriptwriters ruined it by introducing the idea that we have created a way to fold time so that the past is running with the present. It is a load of tosh. The fact that they let Denzel go into this time-jump machine when we are led to believe that it could be fatal is also unbelievable plot development. However, the last 30 minutes which lead back to the beginning of the film with different circumstances is very tense and exciting, even though they use a lot of the same shots edited into the end of the movie from the start. Pretty easy structure. Reminds me a bit of Back to the Future II, when Marty sees himself in scenes from the first movie. All in all, though, this is an entertaining film...though you will have to concentrate hard!

Customer rating: 4 out of 5 stars Really good

Denzel performs superb in this movie. Something a little different with the whole time concept !! I suppose you could treat it as an easy action thriller but is best watched when you are alert and concentrating and the movie will bring so much more. Well worth a watch.

Customer rating: 5 out of 5 stars Perfect for a Friday night

Top 100 DVD Reviewer

I've come to have new found respect for Tony Scott. More often than not, he manages to blow me away with his frenetic shooting style - it worked best in Man on Fire; less so in Domino, but mainly because I love the former and hate the latter.

It seems the Tony Scott/Denzel Washington success machine is back in town and man, what a way to return to form! I loved Crimson Tide when that hit our screens in 1995, if not for Scott's vision, certainly for Denzel's performance (and Tarantino's script-doctoring of course...)

Deja Vu is an unassuming sci-fi action thriller. The first section plays out like an episode of CSI, (which in itself is cool anyway). Throughout this portion of the film we're introduced to the key players amidst the aftermath of an incident in which many people lose their lives. Washington plays an explosives expert bought in to survey the crime scene and employ his niche knowledge base. He soon becomes involved in what appears to be a separate murder case.

Throughout this portion, there are endless details brought to our attention, be it faces... clothing details... little throwaway things that you notice, but... don't notice, if you know what I mean.

Second segment plays out like a stylish technological thriller. Think Enemy of the State but with more whizzy whooshiness... yeah. This is the part where they explain the technology which you need to concentrate on to enjoy the third part to the full.

The third, and final, section involves Washington using the technology like no-one has before. And this is where you sit back and realise what a slam-dunk of a job, Scott has just played. Suddenly everything makes sense. It was at this point I went from enjoying the movie, to absolutely loving it.

Sit back, relax, and enjoy the ride.
