Adapted from the novel by Cecelia Ahern P.S. I Love You stars Hilary Swank, Gerard Butler and Kathy Bates in this charming and heart warming tale about love.
Holly Kennedy (Hilary Swank) is beautifual, smart and married to the love of her life - a passionate, funny and impetuous irishman named Gerry (Gerard Butler). So when Gerry's life is taken by an illness, it takes the life out of Holly. The only one who can help her is the person who is no longer there. Nobody knows Holly better than Gerry. So it's a good thing he planned ahead!
Before he died, Gerry wrote Holly a series of letters that will guide her, not only through her grief but in rediscovering herself. The first message arrives on Holly's 30th birthday in the form of a cake, and to her utter shock, a tape recording from Gerry, who proceeds to order her to 'get out and celebrate herself!' In the weeks and months that follow, more letters from Gerry are delivered, each sending her on a new adventure and each signing off in the same way: P.S. I Love You!

Although the book is a very good read, i also thought the film was good as well, although it was slightly different but they still managed to capture the point of the story, and that was the lose of a loved 1, the letters & getting through the pain. Don't forget a film only has a couple of hours a book can have a lot of pages. Excellent all round.

I was really looking forward to this film as I'd only read the book a few weeks previously but what a let down the film was.
I think the same as what other have said, if you haven't read the book the film is probably really good. But they have made the film with only basic tie ins to the book such as the character names being the same, thats about it!
They could've just made a whole new story as lots of major parts of the book were totally missing from the film which made the story a bit strange to me while watching it.
Book gets 5 out of 5, film gets 2 purely cos the acting was good and the basic story was there.
Watch the film first then go read the book to understand what was missing, or just miss this film altogether.
