this is my hat now totally my hat.

First of all, I laughed out loud at this film a lot, but I just can't give it 5 stars, because I have a queasy feeling regarding the Will Ferrell-esque style or "rip-off style" of comedy. It was as if I was watching Ferrell on screen, doing his usual, but still hillarious, overt-the-top comedy acting, but in some other actor's body....which just doesn't sit right with me. I know Ferrell was the "executive producer" of this film......whatever that means, but I still can't help feeling it would have been funnier if he'd actually starred in it, albeir he's too old for the role in reality. Isla fisher is gorgeous as usual....must mention that. A very funny film which I highly rate at 4.5 stars for people who liked "Superbad" or "Knocked Up", but which left me feeling it could have been better, if that makes sense?!?!

Hot Rod is as silly as comedies come and a welcome addition to the never-ending cycle of funnies that seem to be taking our minds off of the two wars we are currently involved in. Just like in the Great Depression and WW2 where musicals were the escapist genre; off-beat comedies are now the order of the day.
To lumber that burden on Hot Rod alone is unfair but it illustrates how astute Hollywood is at giving the public what they want. And watching a random group of people striding purposely behind Rod, while in the background the rousing chords of "You're The Voice" make the hairs on the back of your neck stick up, is just what the doctor ordered.

This film is so funny it hurts! Could watch it over and over and never get bored. So many one liners and catchphrases that a lot of the jokes are missed the first time of watching. Me and my mate have amused ourselves for weeks with texts and emails of lines from the film so I urge you to watch this film. Cool beans!!
Oh and one last thing, "Why's Rod kissing his sister?" Ha ha!

This is a great wee comedy - loads of great dialogue and silly stunts. An absolutely ridiculous plot which is the foundation of all great comedy. Loved it.

This is def in my top 10 films...when I saw it at the cinema I was in fits of laughter, wicked film!!!

I love this film sooo much. I hated knocked up and superbad so i didnt have high hopes for this, but boy i was wrong, i think i chuckled all the way through this movie with some screaming, crying laughter half way through. The best comedy by far for a long time.

Hilariously goofy!! Even the music had me in stitches!! Some great one liners and random dialog puts this film right up there with films like 'anchorman'.
