I loved this film so much, it is a film to watch when you are feeling low and want to be laughing non stop. The characters are so far fetched that they do not come across as real which should take away any offence to large people or thin people or even chinese people. Eddie Murphy take the mic out of anyone and anything and viewers should just watch the movie with an unbiased mind and not take anything seriously or personally. Its a comedy, so just enjoy it. I think some people may not get all the jokes because he speaks so fast, but after watching it again and again, you will be in stitches of laughter....even my gran likes it and she is no twiglet!
This has to be the worst Eddie Murphy film I've seen, but I still laughed. The plot is so far fetched it create scenarios which are even more far fetched. Norbit is a boy who grew up with the wrong girlfriend and ended up marrying her for the wrong reasons - these reasons are what you'd expect. Anyway his life seems pointless until his real childhood sweetheart returns. The cringe and comedy situations keep flowing. Whilst different from the Apatow comedies which keep filling the cinemas, it failed to show a element of something new from Murphy... Dr Doolittle, Nutty Prof etc... Hopefully he'll bring out something new like Harlem Nights 2, then my faith in Eddie will be restored.
Murphy's scraping the barrel...

First of all, I feel I need to hang my head in shame for even considering watching this dreadful movie... I am chastised!
Eddie Murphy used to be funny once, even when he was being racist, sexist, homophobic - or all three at once. Just check out Delirious or 48 Hours or Coming to America. The guy made good films. But now? I'll admit, I wasn't a fan of The Nutty Professor, but at least he gave his Sherman character some heart. In this film, we are seeing a really nasty side to Eddie Murphy's true persona. Stereotypes of Chinese people, Black women, big women in particular... it says something about him if he derides in the most degrading ways a large number of people who watch his films. I go the USA quite regularly, and when I see movies at the 'theater' out there, usually whole families - grandparents, teens and babies in their mom's arms - will go check out a film together; and yeah, there are a lot of big people in the States. There are a lot of big women, there are big Black women - and these are the target audience of this man's films. It seems that he's forgotten that!!! When I watched this film, some folks actually got up and left; presumably they didn't see the trailer? I didn't, until I returned to the UK - if I had, I wouldn't have bothered with the movie. Some kids left, still laughing at the fat woman Norbit married, making nasty remarks about her appearance....
I know that there's space for all kinds of humour - even stuff as puerile and offensive as this - but I felt bad having watched the film. It was confusing, stupid, coarse, vulgar, badly acted and poorly scripted - what were Thandie Newton and the others thinking??? The one shining light about all of this is that this movie was released right after Murphy got nominated for an Oscar; apparently the Academy were so embarrassed by this film, they voted in droves for Alan Arkin!!!! Poetic justice!
In short - avoid this film; you'll feel ashamed after watching it. I know I did.
Norbit

I am buying this because I have watched it and laughed so hard. As an overweight person, the character did things I only wish I had the confidence to do. Excellent. Loved it. It is different to Eddies other movies so judge it on it's own merits & not his reputation.
dont watch

I watched this last week and really wished I hadnt, there were a couple of half smle moments but apart from that it is total utter tripe. do not waste your hard earned cash on this. dont know what happened to Eddie Murphys career over the years but surely he wasnt that desperate to make this dross
This film caused me to cringe out of pity for Eddie Murphy, a reputable actor who has the talent to do so much more than this feeble attempt at pretending to be an obese woman. Look at Beverley Hills, where he played Axel F to hilarious effect, and dismiss this terrible film from memory.
No Good

This film was not all that funny, and didn't really make me laugh. It was one of those cases where they showed the only funny bit in the trailor! So very annoying.
I really think Eddy Murphey tried to recreate another success similar to the Nutty Professor, but it really did not work. This film is not a pacth on the Nutty Proffessor, and if you have seen those, you will be very disappointed with this.
I watched this film expecting great things, but i was bitterly disappointed. Things clearly only work well the first time round.
My advice: stick to the Nutty Professor.
Rubbish
