Until I saw this film in my teens, I was intending to join the Royal Navy. It put paid to that.
Excellent film.

This is without doubt my favorite war film. Jack Hawkins and Donald Sinden make this film a classic that you will simply want to watch over and over again.
This story revolves around a ship (The Compass Rose) and its men, the relationships between them and how they grow and develop during wartime. Its not a film filled with special effects and gratuitous violence, yet I feel this adds to its charm.
