Unlike many people, I actually enjoyed this film a good deal, seeing it for the first time on DVD as part of the "Ultimate Hammer Collection". The music is haunting, the colour is often bright and cheerful (especially in the early parts of the film, presumably shot in the French Riviera), and the story is sufficiently engaging and fantastical to carry one off into a pleasant world of escape for 90 minutes or so. John Richardson comes across as remarkably different from how he appears in the earlier film, "She", where he often seemed quite a wimp: now he appears dignified, majesterial, impressive, and facially more beautiful. Edward Judd is also very good and sympathetic in his role as the psychiatrist who attempts to rescue the leading lady from the hypnotic and magical forces that are trying to draw her into immortality. I think that if you enjoy exotic and sheer escapism (and such is surely healthy and mentally restful from time to time), as well as some impressive music, this film might be worth seeing. I certainly like it and have now viewed it several times. But it's surprising how different tastes can be!

This sequel to the 1965 She is pretty awful, objectively considered. However, when I got into it, I quite enjoyed it. Probably fun for die-hard Hammer fans only, and torture for anyone else.
