Ok lemme first say that I enjoyed this film a lot when I saw it in the cinema last Jan.
The plot revolves around a man named Chris Gardner (Will Smith) who just seems to be unable to catch a break. He struggles to make ends meet as he pursues his salesman job, which just isint working out. Aswell as this, his wife grows impatient with him and leaves Chris alone with their only son, Christopher. Gardner must now raise his son, on his own all the while still keeping up his job as a salesman.
As I said previously, this movie is good but it's not without it's flaws. Sometimes you just think "ok we get it, he cant catch a break, stop showing us scenes of Gardner failing", aswell as an ending you can probably see coming after the first 20 or so minutes.
Still, The Pursuit of Happyness is worth a watch and I would reccomend it to people of all ages. A good film you could enjoy with your family :)
If you are umin and arghin about buyin this, don't. Just get it. Could anythin go more wrong for this guy?!! It's an emotional rollercoaster. Make sure you have a box of kleenex at hand (for the tears!)
I didn't think I would like this but it really surprised me. All credit to the cast and crew for making it so believable. My wife watched it with me and felt so depressed about their predicament that she felt she couldn't watch it any longer. Thankfully she stuck with it and prevailed, much like Smith and his son. A moving and inspiring movie.
Watching the trailers I couldnt decide if it looked good or not but I must admit to enjoying watching Will Smith. Loved him in Hitch and i Robot so decided to go for it. Within the first thirty minutes I knew I had made a big mistake, by the time my first hour had past I made a grab for my glass of wine. Will Smith is as usual his brilliant self and thats the best I can say about it. I found it depressing and not to my taste at all. My fourteen year old daughter who doesnt have my personality insisted on watching it as well, why she says she will never know.
I do appreciate that there are absolutely loads of you out there that would disagree but for me it was just to hard to watch, depressing to watch and dare I say boring.
a deplorable self indulgent exercise of implausible situations and gut wrenching enforced sentimentality - this probably won't be posted as, after all, we're trying to sell you it! You would need to be an eighty year old spinster with three cats to even tolerate the credits.
