This film pretty much epitomises that. It's badly acted, it's badly directed, the storyline is incoherent. However, everyone's just so enthusiastic and so passionate about it that you really can't help but enjoy it, just a little. Don't take it seriously and you might find yourself having fun.
Utterly fantastic

Being a fan of supernatural, buffy, angel, infact nearly all movies involving magic and things spooky I approached this film with caution; i'd already seen films like The Croft and so i wondered what could be brought new to the genre. the great thing about Play dot com is some of the movies go for rock bottom prices, so its hard not to check out films you might have missed...how thankful i am. I felt the story was fantastic and the special effects whilst perhaps nothing extra special are well done and not overused like some movies. The director Renny Harlin - the same man who brought us the Long Kiss Goodnight (which incidently is another film well worth checking out) sends out a message to other younger directors and moves the story along at a cracking pace and not one shot is wasted. The story - involving deception, revenge, magic and teenage angst is far too good to spoil in a review...but if you have a spare £5 and a flavour for movies like i mentioned above my advice is buy it.
What?? Good? No no no......

Am sorry to disagree with the other reviewers who seem to be happy with this film but am afraid I have to be ruthless with assessing it. This is, in my opinion, a terrible film and a pathetic attempt at a horror/thriller which should be avoided. Am not even sure who this film was really made for. Substandard rubbish about 4 rich kids who happen to be magically gifted and a little mystery thrown in the keep some margin of attention. I really couldn't relate to any of the characters, I felt they were spoilt rich kids who had everything their way and I just couldn't care any less about them really. The acting wasn't that good, the story was lame and the "shocks" were very light. This wasn't even a "brain in neutral" film where you could just sit back and enjoy the special effects, which were pathetic. To be fair there was one moment which was good and impressive but I would expect more from a film that claimed to be a special effects extravaganza. Obviously a film with 4 good looking lads in it will appeal to some but certainly is not enough to justify this film.
The other reviewers will certainly have something to say about my review but I will stick by my guns on this. If you feel the need to see it for yourself, then please borrow or watch it on tv but don't buy it!
wow what a film

If you're a teenager who hasn't seen that many films then you might find something you like in this film....that's what it is, a teenage Witch film and nothing more, so full of predictabilities that my Mrs and I worked it out after 15 minutes. There are a couple of decent effects but two out of 93 minutes (which you've probably seen in the preview) constitute a weak, poorly acted film. Yyyuukkk !!
What a disappointment

After seeing the trailer, could wait to see this one. But now I know what people mean when they say that all the good bits are in the trailer.
I though the story was good if not a bit slow, but they could have done so much more with it. And as for the speacial effects and fight sequences, this is where the film is really let down. The end fight sequence at end between the good and bad wizard look like a couple of guys jumping around a room waving at each other. Dumbledore V Voldermort it was not (that's what a wizards battle should look like). Shame because this one had the potential to be a great film instead of a cross between Dawsons Creek and The Lost Boys. One for the girls if anything.
