I saw this when it was first screened on ITV several years ago, in the late nineties; loved it, and bought it on VHS soon after. I studied the text at A level, and had always felt disappointed with the 1967 film version, as I felt it didn't do the novel justice. This mini-series version, however, stays faithful to the text, and the actors playing the leading roles are fantastic - especially Paloma Baeza and Nathaniel Parker. It's a firm favourite of mine and I usually end up watching it 3 or 4 times a year - if only for the beautiful evocation of early-victorian pastoral life. Highly recommended both for lovers of the novel itself and fans of good costume drama.
