Gray Wheeler just lost everything. But it could be the best thing that ever happened to her. After the death of her fiancé, Gray (Jennifer Garner) moves in with her late love's best friends. While Sam (Kevin Smith) and Dennis (Sam Jaeger) do their best to cheer Gray up, Fritz (Timothy Olyphant) doesn't seem to care. Once Gray breaks through Fritz's defenses, however, she finally sees why her fiancé thought so highly of him. As they spend more time together, Gray learns that her chances for love have not died out with her fiancé. But when some surprise guests show up on their doorstep, it'll take the love of all of her new friends to help Gray learn that life may be messy, but love is messier.

.. A Movie Of Considerable Charm

As the movie starts we are right in the middle of a wake that was supposed to be a wedding. At the center of the activity is Gray (Jennifer Garner), surrounded by friends as she struggles to cope with the untimely loss of her fiancee, Grady. As her coping mechanisms kick in, she moves in with Grady's roomies Sam and Dennis (Kevin Smith and Sam Jaeger). Also in the mix is Grady's friend Fritz (Timothy Olyphant), in town for the funeral, who hangs around to help clean up. During her grieving process, Gray uncovers a liasion that Grady had that led to a son. So now, on top of dealing with the loss of her fiancee, she has to deal with his infidelity and the possibility of losing her inheritance to a son that no one knew about. Plus, she has a growing attraction to the slimy Fritz. It is a movie that has some fairly deep emotional waters to tread, yet it barely sinks a toe into the waters, and what is there fades relatively quickly from the mind. However still a movie of considerable charm.
Mediocre in every respect, not terrible, but should be a whole lot better. Come on people, surely we've progressed since 'Pride & Prejudice'? Judging by this film's script, perhaps not. Then again, the sort of people who'll want to see this won't notice.
Fab film romantic and touching
