Having watched Foyles War, this was a good series to watch afterwards, with the storylines, acting, 1947/48 period very realistic,
my wife and myself thoroughly enjoyed the box-set and have just checked to see if there are any more for sale. In the UK we didn't see the series, and it was more by good luck than good judgement that we bought the box set here in Cyprus, and have the opportunity to see the series again in the future. Nothing better than to curl up watching something good when the weather is dreary and the world's racing around like there is no tomorrow - how different it was in the late 40's - even though we had the aftermath of the second world war and the problems that this brought.
It hardly seems that 40 years ago that Israel struggled to get their independance, and as we were both born in the latter stages of the second world war, it reminded us of those days when there were not the cars on the road, families lived close together and any bad news shocked everyone - today it would not even hit the headlines.
The series reminded us of a slower time, when trains and not cars ruled and also when the police were looked up to and respected.
