great film to go up there with the likes of crouching tiger hidden dragon, house of flying daggers, hero. great fighting scenes, awesome weaponry. i think people under-rate due to it being in chinese (mandarin).
Great martial arts epic

This is one of those martial arts films that has great action from start to finish. The story is easy to follow and the martial arts scenes are brilliant.
A great movie

If you have seen the likes of Hero, Crouching Tiger or Flying Daggers, this film will not impress you. It's certainly not in the same league. It's 150 minutes long which is far too long for this film. It's not gripping and rather underwhelming. The music is a bit cheesy too as it is a bit melodramatic! It's full of action, mainly characters trying to keep their heads (literally!) and although there are moments of decent conversation, the film is rather patchy. Saying all that - some of the scenery is beautifully shot and the colours look great on a big set. I bought this film as it was cheap but it wont be staying in my collection for too long I am afraid.
