This film is a very clever film. It uses life as it is today and then what will happen in the future.

Funny, Clever, Dramatic but Serious - 8/10

Possibly the worst film I've ever seen. I actually found the film to be quite depressing, not the message it was trying to convey (which was completely lost in the ridiculous script) but the fact that I wasted my time with the film in the first place. Other reviewers will say that it was misunderstood and that it will get cult following in a few year time, however they are missing one salient point, the film is absolute rubbish and not funny in the slightest. I am a huge film buff and like lots of different genres and styles but there is no way I would ever say this was an enjoyable film.

The story, some guy and some girl get frozen for a year but ends up being much longer and they wake up to a future where everyone is stupid and no one can take care of themselves. The most intelligent in the future is an ex wrestler so that gives you an idea how stupid they really are.

The film doesn't make sense as if everyone was that stupid they would be dead. An example of the ridiculous plot is that everyone watches TV programs (which are even stupider than they are) and yet the film fails to understand that if everyone was this thick then no-one would be able to operate the complex systems and equipment involved in this. Also there would be no scientists, no proper health care which would lead to disease, no sanitised water etc.. I could go on but the film does that enough. And yes I know it is supposed to be a satire but it isn't funny.......at all....or satirical....just stupid.

Don't listen to anyone saying this is a good film, they obviously should have been in it.

Customer rating: 5 out of 5 stars Unfortunate to have to tell people this message

The film did not need to be heavily marketed as it will gradually build a massive cult following which adds to its greatness. The filming is carefully crafted as to not out shine (and therefore add to) the frighteningly important messages this film has to offer as well as to reach the neanderthal mentality of the young generation so they don't miss the messages. As a teacher I have used this on a number of classes as a spectacular tool to reach and change the mentality by logically frightening them away from where the future of the massess seems to be heading - the more young people that watch this, the better (provided it is narrated by an intelligent person).

Customer rating: 2 out of 5 stars good idea, didn't pay off

a good idea for a film, but it's not put together well, with tacky sets left right and center and many poor acting performances, although the star luke wilson puts in an solid performance..
there was potential to make a point with this film, although that was clearly never the intention.
there are points in the film where it is funny, but they are few and far between...

At last the director of the brilliant Office Space and creator of King Of The Hill makes another feature film. And then Fox pictures do their best to kill it with no publicity. The subject matter of mocking corporate America didn't help. Not in quite the same class as Office Space (thanks to studio enforced alterations) but still destined to build up a cult following. Some scenes like the family tree at the start and the briefing on Upgrayyed are staggeringly funny. One day I hope we'll get a better DVD presenting the film as Judge envisioned
