Horrifying. At one point I genuinely thought a little bit of poo came out.

This was the first great apocalypse film of the century, and it should remembered as such. It's a very important film to come out of Britain as it cements Danny Boyle into the same category as the greats, and sees Alex Garland become a very important representative of British cinema.

Cillian Murphy is superb as Jim; a man who wakes up to an entirely alien world and wanders completely blindly into possibly the most hideous situations without a second thought.

Seeing Jim stroll around an entirely deserted London naively calling 'hello' down the streets is one of the most tense, biting, nervous and (impressively) beautifully composed scenes in cinematic history.

In the other reviews people keep saying that this film is a great brit flim and it is, but fail to mention that 2 of the main characters are in fact IRISH!

This is not only a great brit flick but a good horror as well. The film centre's around a global plague that turn it's victim's into mindless zombie creatures. The central character is a bike courier who awakens in a London hospital only to find the streets of London deserted, very spooky. He eventually finds other survivors and they go on a hunt for a safe haven. The film is very well acted and the plot is well paced and keeps you entertained. The sequel looks good and hopefully will live up to this original.

This film is an instant great which has spawned a good sequal and best of all; it's British. Any film fans remotely into horror films should watch this as they will find it enjoyable. Theres the right amount of gore and jumps and brilliantly shows the dark side of humanity.

The reason for the low score though is because of the lack of extras on the limited edition DVD. There is a few behind the scenes goodies and some trailers but apart from that it's the same as the original release. As the original release is cheaper it's better to buy that version and if you have the original then you've already got the best parts from this version.

If you already own the original Dvd release of this excellent film, then don't waste your money on this edition. The movie disc is exactly the same as the one released years ago...old trailers and all. The second disc has some incredibly short behind the scenes stuff and a couple of trailers that add up to roughly 15 minutes or so, a huge disappointment. Overall an absolute con if you were expecting an upgrade from your old 1 Disc Dvd.

The producers of this release should be ashamed of themselves. The fact they didn't even remove the old trailers is a joke. According to the Dvd, Master and Commander is coming to cinemas soon.

I would recommend buying the original release, unless you want to pay double the price for the different artwork and a 2nd disc full of pretty much nothing.

This movie is a prime example of good quality films if the British Film Industry put thier minds too it.

Good script, good action/effects, chilling scenes with a slightly lame ending

Some scenes strike my memory still, like a totally abandoned London, the window scene, the mob hysteria, etc

The story is based around a genetic virus spread by a Animal rights Liberation gone wrong, the virus being "Rage" technically. Spreading from victim to victim, causing them to lash out and kill ... or just infect each other. Its disputed if this is a Zombie film, as its not based on the typical genre of slow moving corpses, but more high speed primal like instincts.

I am not quite sure of the details of the Limited Edition, but this movie (L.edition or not) is a must for those UK horror seekers who want a decent movie made closer to home ... Enjoy !!

Defo a film worth viewing on a number of levels........cinematically the camera angles and grainy colours highlight the direction/taste the director is trying to put across. It also works as a zombie flic with a twist, running zombies!!!!!Oh yes,i thought that was a good viral twist.Overall well worth the watch and even better as it succeeds as a good strong brit flic to! 4 outta 5 from me.

Customer rating: 3 out of 5 stars Review of the 2-Disc DVD

mosherdude91 | 06/05/2007 | See all mosherdude91's reviews (1) »

This 2-Disc limited edition set is really not worth the money. The first disc is absolutely identical to the original DVD release. The second disc consists of three '28 Weeks Later' trailers, a 'Making Of 28 Weeks Later' documentary and an animated storyboard version of Chapter 1 of the graphic novel '28 Days Later - The Aftermath'.

On the plus side, the film is excellent, the cover design is good and there is a voucher for a free ticket for '28 Weeks'; but besides that, you really are better off buying the original 1-Disc edition.

Customer rating: 4 out of 5 stars Fantastic British horror.
