In this explosive, action-packed thriller, rookie cop Nick Styles (Denzel Washington) has come a long way from the tough city streets of his childhood. Nick escaped to become a cop, while his good friend Odessa (Ice T) became a street hustler, dealing drugs and stealing cars. Then Nick's life changes forever the night his arrest of a ruthless psychotic killer, Blake (John Lithgow), is captured on video by a bystander and picked up by the TV news. Nick becomes a media sensation and his career takes off, leaving Blake to seethe in prison, obsessed with hatred and revenge.
But Blake escapes from jail, faking his own death, and starts an intricate, brutal plan of intimidation, public humiliation and murder, while Nick is left helpless, accusing a man everyone believes is dead. To defeat Blake, Nick must return to the streets, calling on his old friend Odessa. Together they set a trap that pits Nick against the killer in a terrifying confrontation that will leave one man victorious - and only one man left alive.

Not a bad film. This version of the DVD opens in 2.35:1 on credits then pans out to 1.85:1. The overall quality is not great though.

Ricochet is a shamelessly Enjoyable Violent Romp from the early nineties. It features a truly great Baddie in the brilliant John lithgow who is just barking at the moon in this with sadistic menace,The Actions gritty and over the top,and the pace never lets up.Then theres Denzil washington in an early role a good few years before Training day"He,s Fantastic,Theres some Great scenes of Frenzied Paranoia"as Lithgow plays with his mind.Overall this is a very efficiant Action film, very un sung and underatted,"it,s a shame because it,s well worth checking out.
A slick, sinister thriller that will keep you guessing...

Not many people are aware that this film exisits, which is a shame as it truly deserves recognition. I first watched this film about 6 years ago and I forgot how enjoyable and underrated this film really is...
John Lithgow, of Cliffhanger fame, plays a saddistic former hitman hellbent on ruining Denzels life and terrorising his family. Lithgow plays the role with such a sinister passion that his character almost seems real. A superb actor who always delivers.
Denzel, as always, is on top form as the cop who rises in the rankings and you genuinely feel his despair at trying to prove his innocence and protect his family.
If your after a slick, sinister and thought provoking thriller, you won't be dissapointed.
