Their mission.... to save the world
Fifty years from now, the sun is dying, and mankind is dying with it. Our last hope: a spaceship and a crew of eight men and women. They carry a device which will breathe new life into the star. But deep into their voyage, out of radio contact with Earth, their mission is starting to unravel. There is an accident, a fatal mistake, and a distress beacon from a spaceship that disappeared seven years earlier. Soon the crew is fighting not only for their lives, but their sanity.

I had never heard of this film until a couple of months ago but decided to check it out. I do agree with most comments made on here and do feel the sway towards event horizon territory towards the end was unnecessary. However i do believe the overall performances and style of this movie do make it a modern day sci-fi classic. Lets face it films of this quality are few and far between. I particularly loved the scene where the crew were all in the same room watching mercury as it orbited the sun. I almost felt like i was there and could imagine what it felt like to experience something like that. If a film provokes thought and feelings like that. It can't be half bad. I recommend it to all sci-fi lovers and please judge it on its on merits.
Impressive Sci-Fi turning to Horror
