The Family Way is a fantastic down to earth english film, with plenty of atmosphere from the mid-1960s. You can even hear trains shunting in the middle of the night. (those were the days)
John Mills is excellent, along with Marjorie Rhodes, who played his wife, and mother to Hywel Bennet.
The music is by Paul Mc Cartney, and directed by George Martin.
Another brilliant film that needs to come out on DVD is 'Spring And Port Wine' also very english with lots of character.

Set in the late 60's this film is a private peek into the attitudes and charcters that were so prevalent in the 'never had it so good' England. A young couple struggling to make a start in life meet with the sedentry yet down right nosey attitudes of their seniors. Wonderful charcters brilliantly acted by Hywell Bennet, John Mills and Hayley Mills. Yet it is Marjorie Rhodes cast as the mother who really steals the show. This film is essential viewing for those who enjoy the quality of the characters and the nostalgia of the 1960s.
