What started with the Carter family clearly didn't end with the Carter family...

Co-written by Wes Craven and his son Jonathan Craven, Fox Atomic's The Hills Have Eyes 2 is directed by Martin Weisz, and produced by Wes Craven, Marianne Maddalena and Peter Locke.

As part of a routine mission, a unit of National Guard soldiers stop at a New Mexico outpost in order to deliver equipment to a group of atomic scientists. When they arrive at the isolated research camp, however, they find it is mysteriously deserted. After spotting a distress signal in a distant mountain range, the team decide to embark on a search and rescue mission into the hills in order to locate the missing scientists. Little do they know that these are the very hills that the ill-fated Carter family once visited, and that a tribe of cannibalistic mutants lies in wait. And this time, there is an even larger force of evil at work that is intent on the soldiers' very destruction: the worst of the worst - the family patriarch Papa Hades - plans to keep the women as breeders in order to ensure the survival of the mutant clan. Thus, the un-expecting group of soldiers must learn to band together against a foe that is intent on their very destruction.

Perfectly acceptable movie, with a few good action scenes and plenty of gruesome moments. The presence of Wes Craven, as one of the writers, lends it a little credibility - and it's certainly more entertaining than 'Hostel II'.

 It's Alright, Nothing Special Though...

I Thouroughly enjoyed the remake of the first hills have eyes so when i heard this one was out i was straight down the cinema.
So there i was sitting in the cinema and i cant help noticing how similar the narrative (plot line) is between this and THHE1. There are a couple of good scenes in the film though, and i enjoyed the way these mutant people have almost evolved from the first group we met.
I think what lets the film down is that the "victims" of the mutants have guns, which kinda ruins the whole spontaneous and inventive death stuff which was awesome during the first film. And i'll be honest the actors didnt portray very convincing soldiers either. If you loved the first one then prepared to be a little disappointed with this sequel, it had potential but it dint deliver the whole way through...

 100% fun fun fun!!

Before i start, i would class myself as a very good film critic and have loved films for the 24 yrs i have been alive, horrors especially! This film is BRILLIANT, the 1st film is a dark claustrophobic survival shocker that keeps you involved until the cheese on toast ending but still worthy of a 7/10 rating.... this film lets everything that bounded the 1st film's intense seriousness, loose, to great effect. This film is FUNNY! apart from the 1st scene which is disgustingly brutal, i found myself laughing hysterically throughout the film whilst not being disappointed as the horror and shocks come thick and fast minute by minute! A great entertaining post pub horror/shocker that will please everyone, even if thy rate it 1 star.... they are just scared and dont appreciatte nostalgic, cheesy, craven style horror, 9/10! If you thought starship troopers was brilliant, you'l enjoy this!! If you thought starship troopers was poor, a) sort your head out b) you unfortunately wont like this film, and i feel for you

 Better than the first remake.

Well alots been said already, but ulitmately this is a real average horror flick. Some occasional nasty scenes, definatly a 1 watch film. If you enjoyed the first, you may enjoy this, but like most of the hollywood remakes, a bit crap.

i guess it was a pretty good film, it had its moments to make you jump and gasp, good gore but i just dont see the point in the rape sceens. i think that ruins it!
