A very little known film, that deserves more publicity. Set in an undisclosed place and time, it tells the story of a group of travelling famlies caught in a war torn country.
Bob Hoskins, Dexter Fletcher and Zoe Wannamaker are superb in this eerie tale, it draws strong parrallels to the 1990's wars in the Balkans but this film was made some 5 years before!
Dexter Fletcher plays a traumatised soldier escaping a brutal army captain, who whilst in shell shock stumbles across more horror, when he meets a young child playing with corpses of her family all around. The young girl dresses the shocked Dexter as a Rawney or Witch and the story rolls on to a chance meeting with a somewhat startled Bob Hoskins as the leader of the travellers fleeing War torn lands, with a tragic and haunting conclusion.

You really must watch this film, with the stunning cinematography, folk music and oscar worthy acting from the disabled actor Timothy Lang.
