I enjoyed the movie and especially the ending, which keep me on the edge of my seat. It also got me thinking because it was a bit confusing. However, yet again, this is another horror film that failed to get me "horrified". I enjoyed the storyline though and I still thought it was a good movie, and I would probably watch it again.
If you have seen a few Asian horror films you will know that in many cases the gore is left to your imagination and the horror is subtle but effective. Knowing Miike Takashi however I doubted such a thing was to be in 'One Missed Call' and I was certainly right.
Sticking with one J-Horror standard, the film is set in suburbia around regular people. Like Ring, the evil is centered around a modern day applience, one very few of us can say we are free from. For me, I believe using a mobile phone was a brilliant move, as many people will tell you they cannot escape their mobile as it is.
The shocks are horrors are plenty, with the deaths of those recieving the calls being brutal and bloody (though for Miike its fairly tame). The demon itself, as if you couldn't guess, is believed to be a child who died in evil circumstances. The main girl has a history that connects her to the deaths etc. The ending is fairly confusing on first viewing and will probably need to be seen again. For me, I was entertained enough to take a gamble and buy the second 'One Missed Call', if only to clarify the first one a little.
Disappointed

I read the reviews on this movie and based on them I bought a copy. I watched it today and to be honest I was a little bit let down.
The storyline is sound and is relatively original but the suspense factor has been completely overlooked. It's a shame as the story works and if there had been a little more thought put into the arrangements the movie might have been great.
As it stands it is worth one watch but then I'd imagine it would sit in your dvd collection gathering dust till the end of time.

This movie could be called the "The Ring-tone", the story is almost the ring but instead of a videotape its a voicemail message. Non the less...
This movie is something completely new, the horror scenes are in true Japanese style, really spooky and eerie in all ways. But unlike other Japanese horrors the story in One Missed Call is deep with a few twists. Like all horror it has a dark story but this has those special little twists which make it a one of a kind.
This movie deserves to be up their alongside the likes of "The Ring" and "Ju-On: The Grudge". If you love your horrors filled with scares and a good story, then watch One Missed Call
