- Introduction by the director
Fortune favours the bold.
Featuring 45 minutes of new footage, Oliver Stone's Alexander can now be experienced as he meant it to be seen with this all-new unrated version which brings the film to a heightened level of realism and intensity.
Oliver Stone's Alexander is based on the true story of one of history's most luminous and influential leaders, Alexander the Great (Colin Farrell) - a man who had conquered 90% of the known world by the age of 27. Alexander led his virtually invincible Greek and Macedonian armies through 22,000 miles of sieges and conquests in just eight years, and by the time of his death at the age of 32 had forged an empire unlike any the world had ever seen. T
he film chronicles Alexander's path to becoming a living legend, from a youth fueled by dreams of myth, glory and adventure to his lonely death as a ruler of a vast Empire. Alexander is the incredible story of a life that united the known world and proved, if nothing else, fortune favours the bold.

Certainly not a film that was ever going to suit the masses or try to be a commercial hit as the likes of Troy or dare I say Gladiator. This is a very brave movie, depicting the true spirit of Alexander the Great. With absolutely breathtaking cinematography and some of the most impressive battle sequences ever shot on film, this is not just a movie it is an epic. The outstanding score by Vangelis greatly complements the experience and helps the drama of the action scenes. This film deserves to be watched without preconceived bias formed upon some most undeserved reviews. Reviews written by people who obviously couldn't grasp the concept of this opus by one of the most gifted directors of our time.
Very Good Film

I watched this film both at the cinema and i later brought it on dvd, the first time i watched it i was close to being let down,
However I desided to give it one more chance and watched it a second time.
I believe that the hype damaged the film alot, and if you watch the film properly you will also see a very good film, Many of the actor's skill's made this film as well as being very well directed,
This is not just a war film, this film has many side's. if you have passion and drive i feel you can feel close to this movie, Not the best movie out there but one to buy.
a must see for anyone who liked,
