I think it's getting worse and worse every time you watch it.
But it's still awesome.
Will Smith still brilliant but I thought the it was supposed to be restored and supposed to be so much better quality.
It really isn't, but it seems just like the original version from 1996.
But still the film is awesome.
Typical Summer fare...time hasn't treated it well

How opinions can change in the past 10 years. When I first saw Independence Day I was suitably impressed by its slam-bang, toungue in cheek, SFX heavy action adventure credentials. 10 years later, and with a recent television airing, all became clear as it's true inadequacies became clear. Nothing more than a series of set pieces and effects (the White House scene has even lost it's sense of awe) ID4, whilst far from a disaster, comes solely from the genre marked 'dumb' with it's two-dimensional characters, lame attempts at 'comedy' and ridiculously OTT conclusion this is proof that even Summer event movies need a great deal more substance if they are to stand the test of time. Stick to the classic '50's invasion movies instead, at least they had a bit more charm...
