Steve Carell (The 40-Year-Old Virgin), reprising his role as the polished, preening newscaster Evan Baxter of Bruce Almighty, is the next one anointed by God to accomplish a holy mission in the hilarious new comedy Evan Almighty. Blockbuster comedy director Tom Shadyac (The Nutty Professor, Liar Liar, Bruce Almighty) returns behind the camera for this next episode of divine intervention. This time, however, his cast grows two-by-two.

Newly elected to Congress, Evan leaves Buffalo behind and shepherds his family to suburban northern Virginia. Once there, his life gets turned upside-down when God (Morgan Freeman) appears and mysteriously commands him to build an ark. But his befuddled family just can't decide whether Evan is having an extraordinary mid-life crisis or is truly onto something of Biblical proportions...

Ok so it's not too bad, but it definately isn't on the mark like the original was. To be fair it's fun and taken in a slightly different direction to the first.

Bruce wanted the power to change the world were as Evan doesn't want anything to do with it and is dragged kicking and screaming into his role as the new Noah.

The film's laugh's are for the most good, a bit tongue in cheek and some of the joke's fall a bit flat. I noticed that toward the end of the film the laugh's kinda dried up and the film became a little too boring.

On the whole its a fun outing, Steve Carrol is funny and has his own take on the Almighty story. Definately a family comedy to enjoy on a sunday...

Evan Almighty is an Almighty Film

This is a fab film. I took my kids to see this film and they were fixed to it all the way through. It's top on the christmas list. A very watchable film and could watch it over and over again. So funny.

 A MUST HAVE FILM!!!

I cannot believe i got this for just a £1 with the breakfast offer! I probably wouldnt have even thought about buying it as so many peeps were down on this film in the reviews. All i can say is that i found this one funnier then Bruce almighty-perhaps because the man who plays (Evan Baxter) is more natural in his humour whereas Jim Carey try's too hard to be funny and sometimes it can get on your nerves. Anyway i have both films and they are both very different. It was nice that morgan freeman was in it again! Brilliant film-i would definately buy it as a gift for someone, gona take it to my mums over christmas to watch! i give it a 10/10

Do not let your worries about Carrey ruin this film

Bruce Almighty was okay in my view but not everyone is a fan of rubber faced Carrey so thats what made me worry before buying this film. I have to say that I was pleasently surprised by it. Good fun and Steve Carell is a real enjoyable actor to watch. He does not need slapstick comedy to be funny, unlike Carrey. Some of the final scenes rely on CGI effects which are not the but best but alround this is a great film for both adults and family.
