Ok so its not the most deep and meaningful film in the world but i have to say i really liked it. Its a great film to watch with mates and just relax. Kinda reminds me of some old fashioned type horror films but it has amazing CGI effects which makes it more believable and an interesting story. I rented it (with a few other more popular films but this one was the best of the lot) but am going to buy it very soon.
Could have been great....alas!

I was so easly suckered in and should have known better. I mean who can turn down a towering serpent taking on a flight of Apaches? I thought this looks awesome! I was SO wrong.
How can a film be this bad? I asked myself. The actual idea could have been developed into a workable and enjoyable plot. I feel that a more seasoned director should have helmed this movie, rather than a first timer whose roots are firmly in comedy. I also feel it should have been set in Korea to add weight and substance to the legend. The movie promises so much, and simply viewing the trailer you think WOW! While watching the movie ( and too late) you realise we have charecters that are not developed, actors so wooden that they'd make Pinnochio jealous and a story that relies on plot holes and mind numbing coincidence to "work". The only saving grace are the effects, which are really the only thing that hold the movie together. The Buraki, Imoogi and the other dragons look very good and move realistically. The effects company (set up by the director) will hopefully (and deservedly) achieve big things in the future.
Unfortunately that's all the praise I can heap on this movie. Even the promise of the Apache sequence couldn't stop me from turning this off without finishing it and I've NEVER done that before. This movie will undoubtedly appeal to kids who will find the dragons exciting. It will also appeal to those who have no capacity for thought. What should you do when your mate calls and says "I've got Dragon Wars, want to come over and watch it?" Tell them "I'm doing anything else."
Terrible

The special effect are alright, but thats all. There is no plot here whatsoever. Based on a korean legend, but very poorly explained as to the point where they may have not bothered mention it in the first place.
The hero, at the end simply develops a power to defeat the bad guy, with no explaination and you could see where it was leading from the beginning.
I died a little bit because of this film.
Please, please, please DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY! Buy 899 penny sweets instead.
frustratingly bad

another case of what might have been. great idea with enormous potential, destroyed by the hopeless performances by both main characters, not to mention the questionable decision to move the story away from korea, where the legend came from (and in my opinion, where the films location should have stayed) , to the good old us of a. what connection to the 'original' characters in korea, did the two 'no hopers' have?, why did 'jack' not train up his new 'guardian' like the original?. deeply frustrating!, as it could have been a 5 star effort. dont bother buying until it comes down to bargain bucket prices!.
Better for not being an American film

I love this film. It is one of the better ones of late. Based on a Korean Legend and made by the Korean film industry, this is the most expensive Film to come out of Korea! The special effects may not be up to Hollywood standards but it is worth watching with an open mind. The final scenes where you see the dragon is incredible. Instead of the classic thick bodied Dragons from Hollywood, you get the more tradditional style Dragon from the Far East. Obviously made to impress the European and American markets, this film sets a standard for other countries!!
The trailer says it all

Watch the trailer, then decide if this is for you, however quality it is not.
the film is more like a homage to old Godzilla films from earlier decades, and as far as accuracy of research and plot and script issues, here is just two errors.
The Apache helicopters shown in the trailer would never engage at such close range with chain guns. Second there is a shot where the pilot (sitting incorrectly in the back) shoots a dragon with a revolver, that would be through the armoured glass of his cockpit, and don't most armed forces use automatics now?
For cheese and fun, get it, for quality on the level of Transformers, just buy Transformers on HD
Painful drivel

This has to be the top nomination for this year's Golden Raspberry Award in almost all categories. I agree with every word in anacondaandy's review. Adequate sound and CGI effects do not compensate for dreadful filming and even worse script. I have sympathy for Robert Forster and other actors who have this Lemon on their CV. It may be fun for 10 year olds but for anyone slightly older (or like me, can't remember when I was ten) don't waste your money or time watching this awful film. This is a classic example of the extracts for the trailer being the only good bits. This is probably the worst film I have ever seen ... and I have seen some real Lemons in the past. I found myself watching for the homages to other films, like trying to mimic the Lord of the Rings battle scenes or Jurrasic Park's T-rex in suburban gardens ... but really badly. I wonder who I can give my copy to ... I will need to be paid to watch this again.
I want that 90 minutes of my life back!

This has to be one of the worst movies I've ever seen. The 'legend' that the film is based on is poorly explained and very complicated. The whole film is contrived with a very feeble plot which only seems to be there in an attempt to string the special effects together. I only made it to the end of the film because I was gutted at having spent 10 quid on it and I had to see what I'd wasted my money on in it's entirety.
Terrible but not too bad.

After watching a preview I thought this would be a decent film only to find out it's a very low budget film, the film seems to be very ironic that the main characters luck becomes too pathetic.
The enemy seems to always find the main characters after every 5mins they've gotten away, the only good graphic and effects is the CGI on the giant snake but the rest is too cheesy, there are a few funny moments in this film and for the time it seems to go pretty fast.
If your really bored or just looking for something different buy it but i'd suggest rent it or look for another film.
The reson I've given this a 2 star is because it isn't major bad few funny moments so It doesnt deserve too bad.
Ambrosia for the kid in us all!!!

Tyler99 got it spot on with this one.
This is a 'FUN' film which is aimed squarely at the kid in young and old alike. You do not need to get all cerebral on this one (although I need to watch it again to flesh out the backstory properly.).The acting is good and the rather bizarre story plays like an EAST meets WEST amalgam of fantasy adventure and works well at the level it is directed.A few recognisable western faces doesn't do any harm and keeps the viewer tied into the story. The set pieces are terrific and there are some awesomely realised clashes.OK so the CGI falls down in a couple of places only. The action and pace carries it along and my 12 yr old son who is highly critical of cinema dragons was totally impressed by the final creature (sorry no spoiler intended!).AS long as you are happy to give your brain a night off this is a great fun/action film which will certainly keep the older kids happy and any adult that approaches the experience with the right attitude!!.
