This edition comes in a snazy Steelbook and clocks in at just over two hours. A very small amount of footage has been cut HOWEVER it really is very slight, all the boobs blood and butchering still make it in, just one or two seens involving animal cruelty are left out. The sound and audio are cleaned up also so as far as im concerned its a fair trade. Classic movie, lots of iconic quotes to annoy your friends with and great presentation. well worth adding to your dvd collection

Perhaps the best of the wave of 'sword and sorcerery' that appeared in the early 1980's. Schwarenegger definately looks the part, and its hard to imagine anyone else in the role of 'Conan'. James Earl Jones is superb as the baddie 'Thulsa Doom', and just want to hiss, and boo every time he appears. The film is beautifully shot, and looks a treat in its 2.35:1 aspect ratio, as presented on this dvd (enhanced for widescreen t.v's).
This set features a commentary with the director and Schwarzenegger, a deleted scene, a good hour long 'making of' documentary and few other little goodies. The dvd also has DTS, which sounds exceptional. My only problem with this so-called 'definitive edition' is that the U.K release is cut by the BBFC. A number of scenes involving horses being tripped over have been cut, because of animal cruelty (i can understand this censorship, as the horse falls do look cruel and dangerous). Also a sex scene has been slightly cut to avoid an 18 certficate. If you are not bothered by censorship, then by all means get this dvd. However, if you really do want a 'definitive edition', and have a multi-region player, get the U.S 'collector's edition' or the Australian dvd as they are fully uncut.
