I saw this originally at the cinema and within the first 30 secs of the film I was starry eyed and amazed.

This film has got to be the best film I have seen for a long time ! The songs ingenious, the acting amazing, the sets spectacular.

A brilliant cast I dont think I could have imagined any one else playing edna like Travolta HILARIOUS.

This film will get you dancing, singing and acting like a kid full of excitment, this is a feel good film I recomend getting the DVD and CD soudtrack both simply amazing.

Have watched this movie about 20 times in two weeks, my little'un loves it, with the bright colours and fun soundtrack, it keeps him quiet for ages (and he's only 1) plus dancing around the lounge to the songs gives us loads of exercise. a must have for anyone who loves musicals or has a child that loves to dance. definatly A stars all round performance's, song's everything just fantastic.

I can't express enough how much i love this movie, it is my favourite film of all time, the music, the actors, the sets, the way it's shot, everything about this film is great! It was based on the hit broadway musical with the same name, not really the same plot, but like John Waters (the creator of the original Hairspray in 1988) says, "Each version is different" which i think is a good thing because if you watch something that's the same as the show or the original movie, it will get boring. I don't understand how anyone cannot like this film, its just a feel good movie for all ages and there isn't anything offensive about it that will upset anyone. I really do thing you should buy this because at this price, it's unbelievable!

From the moment the film started to the moment it ended, it put a huge smile on my face. This a great musical, full of fun, colour and comedy. I loved it, and would put it in the same category as Grease when it comes to musicals. The main polt involves a high school romance set in the 1960s. Totally recommended if you like musicals, chick flicks or comedies. Even my fella quite liked it too !

This is the best musical ever! i first saw it at the pictures with my family and then took my friends along to see it. we all wanted to dance whilst walking ot of the cinema! its a real feel good movie. i think its a required taste as some people i've made watch it wern't impressed to my disbelief. The acting form all members of the cast was brilliant. Nikki Blonsky who plays the main character tracy turnblad is brilliant. the extras on this dvd are brilliant, over 2 hours long.lots about the real dancers in the 60's of the buddy holly show, john waterman and the cast talks about the original hairspray movie and musical on stage and lots of behind the scences on this movie such as dance rehersals and recording.

I really don't know how some people can even say this film is better than terrible. The cast, plot, music and dancing is awful.

If your after a decent musical then go for Dreamgirls, Chicago or Mary Poppins. For dancing go for Dirty Dancing.

Hairspray is without a doubt the worst film i've seen in a long long time im truly shocked to find that there are some positive reviews of this film. I can only assume that these were given by people who had previously never had any contact with a television.

For gods sake save yourselves and DON'T BUY IT!!!!

Right from the beginning I was hooked. Admittedly it is a love or hate relationship with this film but if you enjoy being entertained and singing and dancing. This is the film to see!!

loads of people thought this was thee film of the year but i thought it was pretty average stuff .. nothing special really.. i didnt find john travolta as edna funny AT ALL this film isnt a comedy even though some may say it is. im not a huge fan of musicals so obviously im not going to give it 5 stars or anything... the colourful costumes and characters do it for me though. even though i enjoyed this movie i definitely dont think it was the best film this year.. pirates 3, harry potter and transformers were WAY better even the simpsons movie was better than this.....and thats saying something.
