After watching the tralior, i thought i would buy the film. I was expecting much more then what it was. Not really funny in parts and it dragged on quite a bit. But the actors were quite good including Ben Stiller, one of my favourite actors. I think i only laughed at some of the parts with him, thats about it. I think i would only probably watch it once.

Ben Stiller is one of my favourate comic actors, with hits under his belt like Something About Mary and Meet The Parents, every body knows what comic gold this guy can hit, but now and again he makes the odd film that although is funny never reaches the greatness of his best. This is one of them.
Don't get me wrong, this film is very funny, painfully funny in places, but some how the film does feel to drag on a little. The cast are great, and although not one of Stillers classics this is still one of the best of the recent batch of low brow comedies, and far better than Good Luck Chuck!
A very funny film, but also very forgettable.

When comparing this film to Kingpin, Me Myself and Irene and Something about Mary, you begin to wonder why the Farrelly brothers have directed a film of much less story in comparison to their previous films. Ben Stiller makes the best of the story, but the laughs don't happen too often. There's an element of cringe and borderline sexual humour which gives the entertainment and laughs but the story itself is very poor.

I hope their next project is a bit more interesting and demonstrates the clever wit we're used to!

This is an not the greatest Farrelly Brothers film by a long shot compared to the likes of Dumb and Dumber and There's Something About Mary but in some places it is funny and definitly a good watch. I think I laughed extremely loudly once but I would not recommend you to buy it on DVD but to rent it or buy wait untill it comes on Sky Movies.

The Farrelly brothers have cornered the market in distasteful comedy. You know you shouldn't laugh, but can help from doing so while cringing in equal measures. So although The Heartbreak Kid isn't up to the standards of say "There's something about Mary" or even "Kingpin", it does have enough high points to carry it. The romantic plot on show here actually gets in the way of the slapstick moments I felt and the balance was off a little this time.
Maybe they were wanting to aim for a box office success and promote this as a chick flick. If this was the case then they could have done without the outrageous sex scenes, although they are undoubtedly hilarious and the benchmark for the rest of the comedic moments in the movie.
Maybe next time out they should just go all out to make either an outrageous comedy, or a chick flick. Aiming for both falls short in both camps. Still a very entertaining movie though.
