4 Really good little horrorKevin1075 | 19/10/2008 | See all Kevin1075's reviews (754)Top 100 Reviewer Top 100 DVD Reviewer Top 100 Music Reviewer I think this is actually an under-rated little horror.Jamie's wife dies horrifically just moments after a strange ventriloquist's dummy is left at their apartment. Returning to their hometown for her funeral, not only does he return home to find his father has a new wife, but he also learns the story of the life and death of Mary Shaw, a ventriloquist said to haunt the living with her strange doll 'Billy', and steal their tongues if they scream at the sight of her. Was his wife a victim of Mary Shaw, and if so, why? It's done by the same guys as the original 'Saw' and it's packed with genuinely creepy moments using the doll 'Billy'. I find dolls to be very creepy anyway. but the doll in this is really disturbing looking. Atmosphere is well built, and some of the deaths (Jamie's wife, and a local undertaker in particular, have nerve-shredding build ups), all leading to a great finale in a ruined playhouse and a terrific final twist that makes perfect sense given the idea behind the film.Well worth a look, in my opinion!!
